An integral component of a vehicle body includes an open profiled element and a reinforcing rib structure disposed in an interior of the open profiled element. The open profiled element has a fiber-plastics composite body having a first structure, and at least one reinforcement panel from metal for the localized reinforcement of the profiled element. The reinforcing rib structure is produced from a fiber-plastics composite having a second structure.

Integral component of a motor vehicle frame

A motor vehicle body assembly includes a composite structural component having a connection flange, and a metallic body component or functional group having a connection flange. The connection flange of the composite structural component and the connection flange of the metallic body component or functional group bear on one another and extend substantially across a preferred connection flange direction. The composite structural component has at least one carbon fiber-plastics composite tier having a thermal expansion behavior that in the fiber direction is almost temperature-neutral, and at least one fiber-plastics composite tier having a thermal expansion behavior similar to that of metal. The carbon fibers of the carbon fiber-plastics composite tier in relation to the preferred connection flange direction enclose an angle a=30 to 60&#xb0;, and the fibers of the fiber-plastics composite tier in relation to the preferred connection flange direction enclose an angle b=0 to 30&#xb0;.

Motor vehicle body assembly

A method is provided for connecting a tubular structural element to a braided hose. The method includes placing the braided hose in the tubular structural element, placing a blow hose in the braided hose and applying internal pressure to expand the braided hose into contact with the tubular structural member. Heat then is applied to cure an adhesion promoter to achieve a positive materially integral connection of the braided profile to the tubular structural member.

A metal casting has a metal casting base body into which at least one metal insert body () is cast. The metal insert body has anti-twisting part-contours and is connected to the metal casting base body in a positively locking manner by the casting-in. To simplify the production of a stable metal casting, the metal insert body () has an elongate shape with a longitudinal axis and an outer mold contour with an unround cross section interrupted in the longitudinal direction by annular grooves (-) that fix the cast-in metal insert body () in the axial direction.

A brake caliper for a disk brake system of a motor vehicle, has a caliper body which is cast from a light metal alloy or from light metal, with a skeleton structure arranged inside the caliper body. The material of the skeleton structure has a higher modulus of elasticity than the material of the caliper body. The skeleton structure is cast into the caliper body so that the caliper body encases the skeleton structure.

Brake caliper and associated production method

A piston-rod assembly with a piston rod having at least one attachment at one end. The piston rod is fabricated of fiber reinforced composite. The piston rod has a body of fiber-reinforced ceramic with a basic matrix of carbon fibers or ceramic fibers or both wherein at least silicon carbide is embedded and with an open porosity, at least at the surface layer, of no more than 3% of the volume of that layer admitting lubricants into the pores. The at least one attachment (or) includes at least one component of a non-ceramic material that fits into and/or interlocks with the piston rod.

Piston-rod assembly

A calibrating consists at least in part of a carbon fiber composite body. The composite body is formed from a porous material from a carbon-containing matrix, into which carbon fibers are embedded, this matrix is thickened by fluid infiltration of Si, which is essentially converted by reaction with carbon to SiC. The overall portion of Si and SIC is a maximum of 60% by volume. The carbon fibers have a minimum length of 3 mm.

Calibrating body

A friction element for use in a safety braking device for braking elevators co-operating with at least one elevator guide rail. The friction element has at least one friction surface that can be pressed against the guide rail to decelerate the elevator. The friction element is formed of a fiber-reinforced, ceramic composite material, containing silicon carbide and carbon with carbon fibers as reinforcing components. Preferably, the composite material is formed by a matrix of silicon carbide and carbon and the reinforcing component are exclusively carbon fibers with a minimum length of 10 mm and the volume content of carbon fibers in the friction element being between 30% and 70%.
