Electronic token and lock

A lock system is provided including a lock core and a token. The lock core comprises a core body, a lock actuator coupled to the core body for rotation about an axis, a blocking body, and a solenoid. The solenoid has a shaft that is movable between a first position in which the blocking body is locked to prevent rotation of the lock actuator about the axis and a second position in which the blocking body is unlocked to allow rotation of the lock actuator about the axis. The token is couplable mechanically to the lock actuator. The solenoid moves the shaft from the first position to the second position so that the blocking body is unlocked if the token has a valid access code.

Electronic token and lock core

Vending machines are provided having a door and a cabinet having an interior region for storing and distributing objects, such as canned or bottled beverages. Several vending machines locks are provided for locking the door to the cabinet to prevent unauthorized access to the interior region of the cabinet.

Vending machine lock

A lock system comprises a lock core and a token. The lock core comprises a core body, a lock actuator coupled to the core body for rotation about an axis, a blocker movable perpendicular with the axis, and an electromagnetic actuator. The electromagnetic actuator has a shaft that is movable parallel with the axis between a first position in which the blocker is locked to prevent rotation of the lock actuator about the axis and a second position in which the blocker is unlocked to allow rotation of the lock actuator about the axis. The token is couplable mechanically to the lock actuator. The electromagnetic actuator moves the shaft parallel with the axis from the first position to the second position so that the blocker is unlocked if the token has a valid access code.

A lock system comprises a lock core and a token having an access code. The lock core comprises a core body, a lock actuator coupled to the core body for rotation about an axis, a blocker movable between a locking position in which the lock actuator is prevented from rotating about the axis and a releasing position in which the lock actuator is permitted to rotate about the axis, an electric circuit having a token reader, and an electromagnetic actuator having a shaft that is movable parallel with the axis. The token is couplable mechanically to the lock actuator. The electric circuit signals the electromagnetic actuator to move the shaft parallel with the axis so that the blocker is movable from the locking position to the releasing position if the access code read by the token reader matches a valid access code.

Electronic token lock core

A lock core for use with a token having an access code and a blade is provided. The lock core includes a core body, a lock actuator coupled to the core body for movement, a token communicator configured to read the access code when the blade is inserted into a passageway of the lock actuator, at least one movable tumbler element, a movable blocker, a biasing member situated between the at least one tumbler element and the blocker, and an electromagnetic actuator coupled to the core body and coupled to the token communicator. Insertion of the token in the passageway moves the at least one tumbler element to store energy in the biasing member. If the token communicator reads the access code after insertion of the token in the passageway, the electromagnetic actuator moves to unlock the blocker and the biasing member releases energy to move the blocker.

A motor-mount apparatus is provided for use with a motor-actuated cylindrical lockset that has a rotatable handle sleeve and a motor with a wire harness extending therefrom. The apparatus includes a motor housing adapted to lie within the rotatable handle sleeve and a plate having a support formed to include an inner surface, an opposite outer surface, an aperture extending therethrough, and a locking tab extending into the aperture. The locking tab lies in generally the same plane as the support and is coupled selectively to the motor housing to block sliding axial movement of the motor housing through the aperture and rotation of the motor housing relative to the support. In addition, the apparatus includes a wire-protection cap coupled to the plate. The cap is adapted to retain the wire harness on the outer surface of the support.

Motor assembly for cylindrical lockset

A cylindrical lock is provided for use in a door containing a latch bolt supported for movement between an extended door-latching position and a retracted door-unlatching position. The door further includes a latch bolt retractor assembly connected to the latch bolt and movable relative to the door to move the latch bolt between the extended door-latching position and the retracted door-unlatching position. The cylindrical lock includes a hub, a door handle, a spindle, and a locking lug. The hub is adapted to mount in a fixed position on the door and is formed to include a first hub slot and a second hub slot communicating with the first hub slot. The door handle is mounted for rotation relative the hub. The spindle is coupled to the door handle and is formed to include a spindle slot defined by spaced-apart driving surfaces. The locking lug is movable between a first position fixing the spindle and hub together and a second position uncoupling the spindle and hub. In the first position, the locking lug is positioned to lie in the first hub slot formed in the hub and the spindle slot formed in the spindle. In the second position, the locking lug is positioned to lie in the spindle slot formed in the spindle and the second hub slot formed in the hub. The locking lug is formed to include a frangible section through which the locking lug shears if overtorqued when in the first position.

Disconnecting drive mechanism for cylindrical lockset

A motorized lock actuator is provided for moving a locking bar in a mortise lock. The lock actuator includes a pivot hub having a pivot axis and a shaft-receiving aperture, a spring mounted on the pivot hub, a motor, and a rotatable drive shaft inserted into the shaft-receiving aperture formed in the pivot hub. The motor rotates the drive shaft and thus the pivot hub to urge the spring into engagement with the locking bar so that the locking bar is moved either to its locked or unlocked position. A slip-clutch mechanism is provided in the pivot hub to establish a driving connection between the drive shaft and the pivot hub.

Motorized actuator for mortise lockset

A button assembly for a button-actuated lockset having a locking mechanism. The button assembly includes a button member and an actuator mechanism such as a locking bar. A rib is provided on the button member to retain the button member on the locking bar yet permit rotation of the button member relative to the locking bar. The button assembly can further include a button cover provided with an engaging mechanism to allow the button cover to be press-fit on the button member.

Button assembly

A door preparation drill jig is usable to prepare a door to receive a lockset provided with through-bolt mounting studs in a main bore provided in the door. The drill jig has a planar body, drill guides, and a cylindrical body. The front surface of the planar body has a portion for the placement of installation instructions and the attachment of a C-clamp. Each drill guide is arranged to receive a drill bit used to drill one of the mounting holes for receiving a mounting stud of the lockset. The cylindrical body has a chamfered edged latch slot which receives a portion of the latch extending into the main bore of the door. Additional tabs appended to the cylindrical body flex to ensue the chamfered edges around the border of the latch slot firmly engage the latch in the main bore and another flexible tab flexes to ensure a tight fit of the jig in the main bore of the door.

Drill jig for preparing a door to receive a cylindrical lock

A spring-loaded handle return assembly of compact size is installed in a trim ring or rose on an exterior portion of a door. The return assembly operates to return a door handle to a home position automatically upon release of the door handle by a user.

A core assembly is provided for use in a lock cylinder formed to include an axially extending core-receiving chamber of figure-8 cross-section providing upper and lower chamber portions. A throw member extending into the lower chamber portion is provided for actuating a lock assembly. The core assembly includes a plug member configured to fit in the upper chamber portion, and an actuator member configured to rotate freely in the lower chamber portion. The actuator member includes means for operably engaging the actuating means so that the lock assembly is actuable upon rotation of the actuator member in the lower chamber portion and an assembly for ejecting the plug member from the upper chamber portion in response to withdrawal of the actuator member from the lower chamber portion.
