A composition for producing a layer or a coating, especially a mold release layer, includes aluminum titanate and/or silicon nitride, an oxidic inorganic component and a binder comprising nanoscale particles.

Layer or coating and a composition for the production thereof

A filtration appliance for wastewater purification, preferably for a sewage treatment plant, in particular for a small sewage treatment plant, including at least one ceramic-based membrane for separating off microorganisms, to a sewage treatment plant having such a filtration appliance, a method of purifying wastewater, in particular in a sewage treatment plant, wherein microorganisms present in the wastewater are separated off by means of at least one ceramic-based membrane, and also to the use of a ceramic-based membrane as filter for separating off microorganisms and, if appropriate, fine solids, from wastewaters.

Purification method for effluent

The invention relates to a method for producing ceramic hollow fibers from nanoscale particles and to hollow fibers produced in such a manner. The inventive method is characterized in that the ceramic material has a solids content of &#x3e;25% by volume, preferably &#x3e;30% by volume and is processed by means of extrusion and spinning. The hollow fiber is sintered according to conventional sintering methods. A hollow fiber produced in this manner is used for metal, polymer and ceramic matrix reinforcements, for artificial organs, for microsystems technology components, for fiber optical waveguides, for ceramic membranes, for solid electrolyte in fuel cells (SOFC), for tissue engineering and for producing extremely light ceramic parts, such as heat shields or brake systems, that are subjected to temperature stresses. The inventive ceramic batch can also be processed by means of silk screening whereby resulting in the production of filigree structures over the ceramic silk screening.

Ceramic hollow fibers made from nanoscale powder particles

The invention relates to nanoscale rutile or oxide powder that is obtained by producing amorphous TiOby mixing an alcoholic solution with a titanium alcoholate and with an aluminum alcohalate and adding water and acid. The amorphous, aluminum-containing TiOis isolated by removing the solvent, and is redispersed in water in the presence of a tin salt. Thermal or hydrothermal post-processing yields rutile or oxide that can be redispersed to primary particle size. The n-rutile or the obtained oxide having a primary particle size ranging between 5 and 20 nm can be incorporated into all organic matrices so that they remain transparent. Photocatalytic activity is suppressed by lattice doping with trivalent ions. If the amorphous precursor is redispersed in alcohol, or not isolated, but immediately crystallized, an anatase is obtained that can be redispersed to primary particle size. A variation of the alcoholates allows production of the following components: ZrO, ZnO, SnO, ATO, InO, ITO, Y2O, BaO, CaO, MgO, CeO, and BaTiO.

Nanoscale rutile or anatase oxide and method for producing same

An inorganic binder for the production of ceramic, glass ceramic and other mineral materials and composite materials comprises at least one inorganic compound having a mean particle size of &#x3c;100 nm and at least one solvent. The inorganic compounds are preferably compounds selected from the group consisting of the chalcogenides, the carbides and/or the nitrides. Further preference is given to the mean particle size being &#x3c;50 nm, in particular &#x3c;25 nm. The solvent is, in particular, a polar solvent, especially water.

Production of ceramic, glass ceramic and other mineral materials and composite materials

The invention concerns a method for producing a highly-porous ceramic layer and for application of this layer onto metallic, ceramic, enameled and/or glass substrates using porous, ceramic particles, preferably aluminum oxide, titanium oxide and zircon oxide, and an inorganic binder system. The inorganic binder system contains at least one ceramic nanoparticle of a particle size of less than 100 nm, preferably less than 50 nm and particularly preferred less than 25 nm, the solvent being water. Layers produced in this fashion are suited as self-cleaning catalytically active layers e.g. in ovens, in combustion engines etc. or for general coating of substances to considerably increase their specific surface e.g. for catalytic substrates.

Method for producing self-cleaning ceramic layers and a composition therefore

A composition containing transparent thermoplastic polymers and a surface modified oxide particles is disclosed. The size of the particles is less than 200 nm and the composition is suitable for the preparation of products wherever diathermancy is undesirable.

IR absorbing compositions

In a filtration device () comprising a pressure-resistant housing () with a liquid inlet opening () and an outlet opening () for filtered matter, into which a collecting channel () terminates, at least one filter element () designed as flat membrane is connected to the collecting channel () in a pressure-tight manner. This device provides a high liquid throughput at the same time having a compact construction.

Filtration device

The present invention provides compositions containing transparent thermoplastic polymer, surface-modified oxide particles with a particle size of less than 200 nm, and organic NIR absorbers. The compositions of the present invention may find use in reducing diathermancy in sheets, films, glazing systems and roofing systems which may be incorporated into automobiles and buildings.

IR-absorbing compositions

Nanoscale corundum powders are obtained by first producing an AlOprecursor by adding seed crystals to an aqueous solution of an aluminium compound and adding a base and then converting the AlOprecursor into corundum by calcination at a high temperature. Before the calcination, the salts that are present in addition to the AlOprecursor are separated off. The resulting product is calcined at temperatures of 700 to 975&#xb0; C. and any fines that may be present are removed. The resulting corundum powders can be sintered at temperatures of &#x2266;1200&#xb0; C. to produce compacts or components of multiple layer systems.

The invention concerns a method for producing porous ceramic layers on metallic, ceramic, enameled or glass substrates using crystalline nanoparticles of particle sizes of between 3 nm and 100 nm via a wet-chemical process and functionalising of this porous ceramic layer through introducing a second component into the pores of the porous ceramic layer which serves as carrier layer. The porous ceramic layers can be filled with hydrophobizing, hydrophilizing, dirt-repellent and corrosion-inhibiting substances which remain in the substrate or are supplied later on demand, or with bactericidal substances, aromatics, perfumes or inhalation substances which are delivered to the room air in precise doses.

Functional ceramic layers based on a support layer produced with crystalline nanoparticles

This invention relates to adhesive compositions of which the binder system contains nanoscale particles with ferromagnetic, ferrimagnetic, superparamagnetic or piezoelectric properties. The invention also relates to dissolvable adhesive bonds and to a process for dissolving adhesive bonds.

Detachable adhesive compounds

Suspensions and powders based on indium tin oxide are prepared by a method in which indium tin oxide precursors are precipitated from solutions in one or more solvents in the presence of one or more surface-modifying components, the solvent(s) are removed from the precipitate, which is then calcined, one or more surface-modifying components and one or more solvents are added, the mixture is comminuted or dispersed to form a suspension, and the liquid components are separated from the suspension to give a powder. The powder may be converted into a moulding by a shaping process. The materials prepared by this method are especially suitable as coating materials for use in microelectronics and optoelectronics.
