Wearable sensor

A system and methods for displaying data distribution information for time-series data is described. The methods include computing a condensed quantile function that may be used to generate approximate histograms for the time-series data, while decreasing the data storage requirements for generating a series of histograms for time-series data. The methods further include displaying the data distribution information using stack-bar histograms, many of which may be shown in a single display to permit a user to discern trends in the data distribution information. Methods for merging condensed quantile function tables are also described.

System and methods for display of time-series data distribution

Methods and an apparatus for instrumenting object oriented software that do not require modification to existing source code or to executable files, nor do they require modification to any existing sequences of object resident instructions. Methods include the class interceptor, doppelganger and method hijacking software instrumentation techniques. The class interceptor technique intercepts and monitors the paths of execution associated with methods inherited by a target class. The class doppelganger technique intercepts and monitors the paths of execution entering a target class. The method hijacking technique creates and adds instrumented methods directly to a target class.

Software instrumentation method and apparatus

A system and method for monitoring a set of performance metrics is described. The methods include metric correlation and grouping methods that analyze a group of temporally related metrics, and correlate pairs of the metrics in the group. In one embodiment, rank correlation techniques are used to perform this correlation. Methods are also described for grouping metrics using a dynamic correlation pair graph that preserves all of the correlated relationships. This correlation pair graph may be used to determine which metrics are associated with a particular key metric, which may provide information on the cause of an alarm or other event involving the key metric. Another embodiment includes apparatus for correlating, grouping, and identifying the metrics.

System and method for monitoring performance metrics

An apparatus and method for determining the QoS of a communication system. In one embodiment a service verification equipment device (SVE) is placed into the communications link between the wide area network and the transmitting customer premise and an SVE is placed into the communications link between the wide area network and the receiving customer premise. The transmitting SVE inserts a test cell into the customer's data stream over communications link which informs the receiving SVE that a test is commencing. After a predetermined number of customer data cells are sent, the transmitting SVE inserts a termination cell into the communications link at the end of the test. The receiving SVE then compiles data related to the QoS of the communications link and that data is analyzed to determine the QoS.
