In a method for monitoring absorption of a transmitter output irradiated into a patient by a transmitter unit of a magnetic resonance device, absorption data is provided, which describes a patient-nonspecific, location-dependent absorption sensitivity of the transmitter output to be irradiated. The patient is positioned in an irradiation region of the magnetic resonance device, in which the irradiation of the transmitter output into the patient is to take place. An anatomy of the patient is detected in the irradiation region, and the absorption data is assigned to the anatomy of the patient. A magnetic resonance scan of the patient is then performed, wherein the transmitter output absorbed by the patient is monitored during the magnetic resonance scan based on the absorption data assigned to the anatomy of the patient.

A head coil arrangement is for a magnetic resonance tomograph. In an embodiment, the head coil arrangement includes a send coil unit and a receive coil unit. The controller is configured to initiate a patient-specific calibration measurement on a patient to generate patient-specific calibration data representing a field distribution. The patient-specific calibration data is generated in the patient-specific calibration measurement on the patient and represents a field distribution. A controller of a magnetic resonance system determines an activation signal vector based on a target field predetermined for the controller in conjunction with field characteristics of field coils known to the controller. The activation signal vector includes a respective activation signal for each field coil. The controller determines the activation signal vector such that within a predetermined examination volume of the magnetic resonance system, any deviation of an ideal field that would result if ideal coils were subjected to the activation signals of the activation signal vector from the target field is minimized. The controller determines a compensation signal vector based on the activation signal vector in conjunction with eddy current characteristics of the field coils known to the controller. The compensation signal vector is used to minimize a deviation of an actual field from the target field within the predetermined examination volume of the magnetic resonance system.

A method for producing a gradient coil assembly for a magnetic resonance imaging system includes applying a number of primary gradient coils and a number of secondary gradient coils to a winding mandrel to form the gradient coil assembly. A control coil arrangement is associated with the winding mandrel. During an intermediate check before completion of the gradient coil assembly, at least one coupling inductance value between the control coil arrangement and at least one of the primary gradient coils and/or at least one of the secondary gradient coils is determined. An arrangement of the relevant gradient coils on the winding mandrel is corrected as a function of the at least one coupling inductance value.

A cylindrical gradient coil arrangement is provided for a magnetic resonance device. The arrangement includes at least one conductive structure that forms at least one gradient coil and a cooling device that uses a cooling fluid to cool the at least one conductive structure. The arrangement includes an outer carrier structure and an inner carrier structure. The outer carrier structure includes two tubular, coaxial outer sections with different diameters. The inner, tubular carrier structure is arranged between and coaxially with the outer sections. The conductive structure is placed on the inner carrier structure. The inner carrier structure is spaced from the outer sections by a clearance. The clearance forms a cooling channel through which the cooling fluid of the cooling device may flow. The inner carrier structure is fastened to the outer carrier structure at least in a point-by-point manner.

In a method and device to determine distortion correction data for distortion correction of magnetic resonance images acquired with a magnetic resonance system, a starting spherical function is calculated represents the magnetic field of a gradient coil of the magnetic resonance system on the basis of the conductor geometry of the gradient coil. A three-dimensional parameter map is determined that represents a magnetic field generated by the gradient coil using a defined measurement subject, with a defined gradient strength being set for the appertaining gradient coil. A deviation parameter map is generated on the basis of the parameter map and on the basis of a reference parameter map which was determined with deactivated gradient coil. Spherical function coefficients of the gradient magnetic field are determined by fitting a spherical function representing the magnetic field of the gradient coil to the deviation parameter map using the starting spherical function. The distortion correction data are determined on the basis of the spherical function coefficients of the fitted spherical function.

A volume of cooling water flowing through at least one gradient system cooling water tube of the gradient system per unit of time is determined.
