A solid-state light source () comprising a plurality of LED units () arrayed to emit light generally about an axis (). Each of the LED units () can comprise a number of LEDs, for example, up to five. They may all emit in a single color or multiple colors can be combined for a specific effect. A light transmissive light guide () is associated with the LED units () and has a plurality of input widows (). Each LED unit () faces a respective input window () and each window () transversely intercepts the axis () and receives light from the LED units (). The input windows () lead to a common output window () that is axially aligned with the input windows (). The light guide () has smooth sidewalls () that extend between the input windows () and the output window ().

LED headlamp system

An LED and light guide assembly has an LED with an output surface; a first power input lead electrically coupled to a first pole and having a first surface and a second surface; and a second power input lead electrically coupled to a second pole and having a first surface and a second surface. A unitary, molded light guide has an axially extending, light transmissive body with a light output window. An input window is formed with the unitary, molded light guide being aligned in a zero-gap relationship to capture substantially all the light emitted by the LED. A support is formed integral with the light guide and envelopes a portion of the first surface and the second surface of the first power input lead and the first surface and the second surface of the second power input lead to anchor the guide with respect to the power inputs.

Light emitting diode with direct view optic

A vehicle headlamp includes a first planar array of low and high beam LED light sources; a first primary optical light guide receiving low and high beam light from the LEDs; a first secondary optical light guide receiving and focusing collimated low and high beam light from the first primary light guide as a combination of low and high beam hot spots; a second planar array of LED light sources having a low and high beam LEDs; a second primary optical light guide receiving and collimating low and high beam light from second LED light sources; a second secondary optical light guide receiving said collimated low and high beam light and spreading the light as a combination of low and high beam spread pattern; a housing to mechanically support the LED arrays, the first primary optic, the first secondary optic, the second primary light guide and the second secondary optic.

A light gathering module () has a body () with a first end () comprising a single light transmitting surface () and a second end () having a plurality of arms (), each arm () having an independent light gathering terminus () that is rectangular. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the first end () of the body also is rectangular. The light gathering module () can be fabricated from acrylic, plastic, glass or other suitable material and preferably has no cladding so that light output I maximized. When combined in a housing () with a projector lens () the light gathering module () provides a vehicle headlamp ().

Light emitting diode module for automotive headlamp

An LED light source () comprises a heat sink () having a body () with a front surface () and a rear surface (), the rear surface () being provided with heat dissipaters (). The front surface () includes a pocket () for the receipt of components (), the components including at least one LEDs () and electrical circuitry therefor. A housing () has a flange () and a tubular projection () fitted into the pocket () in a manner to fix the components () in the heat sink (); and an optical light guide () having at least one light pipes () is positioned in the tubular projection (), each of the at least one light pipes () having a light input end (34) fixed in light gathering alignment with the at least one LEDs () in a one-to-one relationship.

LED lamp with direct optical coupling in axial arrangement

A reflector lamp assembly may be formed with a reflector housing having a reflector with a prescribed reflective surface; the reflector formed with a wall defining a through passage. A lamp bulb assembly having an axially extending stem supports a head extending transverse to the axis, the head having a first generally linearly extending region, a first set of LEDs mounted generally in a row along the region oriented to face in one plane towards a reflector. Electrical connections for the LEDs extend through the head, and stem to the exterior of the assembly for electrical connection. A base extends in the through passage and is mechanically mounted to the optical housing with the LED assembly oriented to face the reflective surface.

Led lamp bulb assembly and reflector system

A lamp component has a support with a base surrounded by an interior wall defining a cavity with a central axis. A plurality of LEDs are supported on the interior wall and generally aimed to direct light towards the central axis. A center piece has a first reflective surface shaped and positioned to intercept light received from the LEDs and reflect such received light generally in a direction parallel to the axis.

Light emitting diode lamp with conically focused light guides

An LED light source () has a housing () with a base () and a hollow core () projecting from the base (), the core () being substantially conical. A first printed circuit board () is fitted to the base (). A second printed circuit board () is fitted to the narrow end () of the core (), the second printed circuit board () having at least one LED () operatively fixed thereto. A plurality of electrical conductorsis provided having proximal ends () attached to and extending from the second printed circuit board () and distal ends () attached to and projecting through the first printed circuit board (). A cap () is fitted over the second printed circuit board () and a heat sink () is attached to the base () and in contact with the distal ends () of the electrical conductors (). The housing () is provided with flanges for engaging a suitable opening in the rear of a reflector.

Multi-conductor LED bulb assembly

A high-density LED array () capable of presenting a density of X LEDs/unit area has a first printed circuit board () having X/2 LEDs/area and X/2 apertures arrayed therewith. A second printed circuit board () is spaced from the first printed circuit board () and has X/2 LEDs/unit area. The LEDs () on the second printed circuit board are aligned with the apertures () in the first printed circuit board. Each of the LEDs () on the second printed circuit board () has an optical fiber () associated therewith and each of the light guides () extends through one of the apterures (). Each of the mounted LEDs on the first printed circuit board can have an optical fiber associated therewith and the light guides can be bundled to direct light to a remote source.

High density LED array

A discharge lamp, such as a neon lamp or a subminiature fluorescent lamp, includes an elongated tubular lamp envelope containing a fill material for supporting a light-emitting discharge and electrodes mounted at opposite ends of the lamp envelope. A light-transmissive conductive coating on the lamp envelope substantially attenuates emission of RF energy. A conductor in electrical contact with the conductive coating couples the conductive coating to a reference potential, such as ground. The conductor may be a metal or conductive silicone strip in electrical contact with the conductive coating along the length of the lamp envelope. The discharge lamp may be connected to a ballast circuit by coaxial cables. The outer conductor of each coaxial cable is connected to the conductive coating to form a continuous RF shield. The conductive coating and/or the metal strip may be used for heating of the discharge lamp.
