An LED module combines a heat sink portion and an LED arrangement. The heat sink portion is a first part of a multiple part heat sink having at least this first part and a second part. The heat sink portion is not sufficient alone to provide the required cooling for the operation of the LED arrangement so it can be small and low cost. A user can simply replace the LED module as a single unit, without the significant waste and cost of disposing of the full heat sink.

The invention describes an adapter part () for a modular lighting assembly () comprising a number of light-emitting diodes () mounted on a separate base part (), which adapter part () comprises a number of first electrical connectors () arranged to connect the light-emitting diodes () to an external power supply; at least one electrical component () arranged in a body of the adapter part (); and a number of second electrical connectors () arranged to connect external circuitry to an electrical component () arranged in the body of the adapter part (). The invention further describes a modular lighting assembly () comprising a base part () upon which a number of light-emitting diodes () is mounted; and an adapter part () according to the invention. The invention also describes a method of assembling such a modular lighting arrangement (), comprising the steps of connecting a first adapter part () according to the invention to a separate base part (); choosing a number of electrical components () on the basis of an application requirement of the modular lighting arrangement (); and arranging an electrical component () in the adapter part () such that an electrical connection is formed between a contact surface of the electrical component () and a second electrical connector () of the adapter part ().

Leadframe LED lighting assembly

An LED package including a collimator body adapted to collect and/or reflect and/or focus light. An upper plane provided by the collimator body defines a mainly horizontal plane. At least one reflection surface is provided by the collimator body and is at least partially angled to the horizontal plane. The collimator body includes a recess for receiving a lighting element including a light emitting front face such that the reflection surface extends at least partially below the level of the front face in an assembled state. Due to the angle of the reflection surface with respect to the horizontal plane of the collimator body, a small light source and a high luminous flux at the same time are provided so that the luminance and the brightness of the LED package are increased.

Collimator

The invention provides a lamp with adjustable beam cut-off, useful for e.g. vehicle headlamps. The lamp comprises a solid-state light sourceand a reflector, as well as a movable beam limiter. To adjust the cut-off, the beam limitermay be moved by an actuator. An advantage is that the beam limiterreflects incident light into the emitted beam instead of absorbing it, which increases efficiency. Furthermore, because the reflectorand also the beam limitermay be positioned very close to the light source, which may be a LED or a laser diode, they may be flat and very small. Both circumstances ensure that the beam cut-off may be adjusted very quickly.

A light-emitting device (), comprising an LED-module () comprising at least one LED mounted on a carrier and at least one connection pad (-) for electrical connection of the LED module (), a heat dissipator () for dissipating heat generated by the LED when in operation, a connection board () comprising a substrate having a conductor pattern for enabling provision of external power to the LED module (), an interconnecting arrangement (-) comprising at least one connection spring (-) attached to the connection board () electrically interconnecting the at least one connection pad (-) of the LED module () with the conductor pattern of the connection board (), and an LED-holder comprising at least one holding spring (-) attached to the connection board () exerting a spring force there by pressing the LED-module () against the heat dissipator () to provide a thermal connection between the LED-module () and the heat dissipator (). The interconnecting arrangement (-) is configured to allow movement between the conductor pattern of the connection board () and the at least one connection pad (-). The at least one connection spring (-) constitutes the at least one holding spring (-), to simultaneously electrically interconnect the at least one connection pad (-) of the LED-module () with the conductor pattern of the connection board () and press the LED-module () against the heat dissipator ().

The invention relates to a lighting unit () having a concave reflector () with an axis of symmetry () and a light emission window) bounded by a circumferential edge () transverse to the axis, an elongate light source () extending substantially along the axis of symmetry (), which light source () is accommodated in a holder () opposite the light emission window (), and an axially positioned cap (), which cap partly surrounds the light source () and forms an optical screening means to intercept unreflected light rays. According to the invention, the cap () forms part of a sleeve () surrounding the light source ().

It is provided a lamp assembly () for an automotive headlamp, comprising an LED () for emitting light rays, a housing (), to which the LED () is detachably connectable, wherein the housing () comprises an entrance window () assigned to the LED (), and a guiding element () for guiding the light rays passing through the entrance window (), wherein the guiding element () is connected to the housing (). Since the LED () is detachable connected to the housing () a defect LED () can by exchanged by only exchanging the LED () itself without exchanging the whole lamp assembly () including the housing () and the guiding element (). Since the correct position of the bright/dark-cutoff may be provided by the entrance window () and/or the guiding element () only, a misalignment of a newly inserted LED () does not affect the correct position of the bright/dark-cutoff. The exchange of a LED () is facilitated and without affecting the correct position of the bright/dark-cutoff.

Lamp assembly

The invention relates to a lighting device () comprising a blue light source, e.g. an LED (), combined with a wavelength converting ceramic () and a collimating optical component (). The ceramic () is mechanically carried by the optical component (), for example by a glue or by insert moulding. Intermediate gaps between the light source () and the converter () are preferably filled with a material like silicone.

Lighting device

A light source comprising a light engine (), especially with at least one LED and/or at least one laser light emitting element, and further comprising a light guide () and an out-coupling structure () is proposed. By this, a flexible scheme to tailor the source size and radiation characteristic of an LED- or laser based system is provided. The size and the position of the out-coupling structure () can be chosen to be comparable to the size and position of the filament or arc of a conventional light source like an incandescent-, halogen- or gas discharge burner. The disclosed LED/laser light source is retrofit from an optical point of view so that it can replace a conventional light source like an incandescent-, halogen- or gas discharge bulb or burner in an illumination device.

Light source and illumination device comprising at least one light-emitting element

Mounting an electro-optical component () on a carrier substrate () in an accurate position with respect to an optical element (), the carrier substrate and the electro-optical component each being provided with at least one solder pad (). The solder pads are arranged such that, when said electro-optical component is soldered onto the pads, a force is generated that acts on the electro-optical component in a direction (x) towards the optical element, and the structure is designed to allow said electro-optical component to move laterally during soldering, such that it is brought into abutment with said optical element, thereby ensuring an accurate relative positioning between the electro-optical component and the optical element.

The invention describes an LED lighting module () comprising an LED element (), an electronic driving arrangement () for driving the LED (), and a heat sink (). The heat sink () forms a casing for the electronic driving arrangement () and comprises a receptacle interface () on a front side (F) of the heat sink () with a number of first reference elements () for coupling the LED element () to the heat sink () in a defined orientation. LED lighting module

An LED module is described with a basemade out of a heat conducting material. An LED element () is arranged in a cavity () of the base. A collimator reflector () is formed by reflective surfaces (). Three of these reflective surfaces () are provided on a plastic insert () received in the cavity (). A further reflective surface () is provided on the base () itself. This surface () has a straight border line (). The collimator reflector () is arranged to reflect light from the LED () so that a cut-off () is formed by the straight border line (). By thus integrating the cut-off, as the most critical optical element, into the base () itself, high accuracy is achieved.

Lighting device and method for directing light

A light-source module is described having at least one light-emitting element () such as, in particular, LEDs, light guides, collimator elements or lens elements, which together form a light exit area, as also is a holder for a module of this in the form of an LED module, system, such as in particular a motor vehicle headlight or a lighting or projecting means, that is intended to have a given light emission pattern. For this purpose, the module is able to be positioned relative to at least one reference plane of the optical system and, at the same time, is able to be replaced easily without soldered, bonded or welded connections being required.
