A wick assembly for use in a dispenser for a volatile liquid includes a wick having an external surface and a discontinuity in the surface providing a location in the wick of less resistance to a force applied to the wick than a location adjacent to the discontinuity. In one embodiment, the wick is adapted to be positioned to extend from an inside of a container, through an opening defined in the container, to an outside of the container, and the wick is formed such that a portion of the wick will block the opening when the wick is broken at the discontinuity.

Handheld dust removal devices that selectively utilize vacuum pressure are disclosed. Preferably each device includes a small lightweight handle that houses a vacuum assembly having an electric motor and a battery. The device further includes a duster assembly for removably holding a dusting cloth or cover, whereby it can be used similarly to a conventional duster. The vacuum source can be fluidly connected to and draw a vacuum airflow through the duster assembly, for example, through and/or around the dusting cloth. In some implementations, this is done by drawing the vacuum airflow toward opposing lateral portions of the duster assembly. Some implementations further include an auxiliary vacuum inlet that is adapted and configured for drawing large particles such as crumbs, hair, and others thereinto. A container for a volatile liquid in a liquid dispensing device comprises a body and a neck extending from the body to define an opening. A retention structure is integral with the container body and is adapted to be releasably engaged with two opposing sidewalls of a housing of the dispensing device. The sidewalls are spaced apart in a first direction, and the retention structure is inhibits motion of the container in two opposing directions generally transverse to the first direction. The retention structure may be located on a side of the container body. A capillary member extends from inside the container to an exterior of the container. The volatile liquid migrates along the capillary member from the reservoir to the exterior of the container where it is evaporated from the surface of the capillary member by forced airflow generated by a motorized fan mounted in the housing.

The present invention relates to candles which employ heat conductive elements to distribute heat from a burning flame at a wick to a melting plate and to the body of a solid fuel, so as to more rapidly liquify the solid fuel, such as paraffin wax, and to more uniformly and intensely heat such fuels to increase the efficiency of consumption thereof. The heat conductive elements and melting plate are configured so as to engage said solid fuel, and to cause the flow of liquified fuel to the wick. The fuel may be provided in various forms, configured to cooperatively engage the heat conductive elements and melting plate of the candle.

The present invention relates to dispensers for active materials, which dispensers employ heat conductive elements to distribute heat from a burning flame at a wick to a simmer plate and to the body of a solid fuel containing the active material, so as to more rapidly liquify the solid fuel, such as paraffin wax, and to more uniformly and intensely heat such fuels to volatilize the active material. The heat conductive elements and simmer plate are configured so as to engage said solid fuel, and to cause the flow of liquified fuel to the wick. The fuel may comprise various active ingredients, such as fragrances, air fresheners, deodorizers, odor eliminators, odor counteractants, insecticides, insect repellants, herbal and medicinal substances, disinfectants, sanitizers, mood enhancers, aroma therapy compositions, and the like, and may be provided in various forms.

Simmer plate dispenser for volatile active materials

A method of manufacturing a gel candle having a non-metal core wick that stands upright and is not bent, wilted, or submerged in the gel candle body. In one aspect, the method includes providing a gel-forming liquid composition in a candle container having a longitudinal axis running therethrough, the gel-forming liquid composition having an average temperature of between about 195&deg; F. and about 230&deg; F.; thereafter, inserting a wick-clip having a non-metal core wick into the composition in the container when the temperature of the composition substantially in the center of the container is between about 160&deg; F. and about 195&deg; F.; and drawing the wick-clip through the composition and positioning the wick-clip in the container using a magnetic material. After the positioning step, the non-metal core wick is substantially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the container. In another aspect, the method can further include cooling the composition in the container. In yet another aspect, the wick-clip having a non-metal core wick is inserted into and drawn through the composition in the container before the composition in the container begins to transform into a gel. In still another aspect, the method may additionally comprise placing a guide on the container to help guide the non-metal core wick through the gel-forming liquid composition when the wick is inserted during the inserting step.
