This is an actuator for a push-button switch. The actuator has a cover with a top having an underside and a through opening, a housing, a plunger, a spring and a lamp. The push-button switch includes a button subassembly attached to the underside and engaging the spring. The cover also has tabs extending from each side which has a locking element extending from the inner surface of each tab which engages a slot formed on each side of the base of the push-button switch to hold the cover and the base together.

The invention disclosed herein is directed at embodiments of a piezo electric switch having a combination of a lamp, a housing, a piezo element, a printed circuit board assembly, a lamp housing and a plunger and a second embodiment of a piezo electric switch having a combination of lamp element, a housing portion, a piezo film element, a bezel, a graphic overlay, a translucent diffuser backer, a connector being a laminate of layers of conductive and non conductive rubber, a printed circuit board assembly, and a lamp housing.

Piezo electric switch

This is two embodiments of a sealed switch, one embodiment of which utilizes a plastic film which abuts the upper surface of the support portion and covers the upper edges of the walls defining the base and which is trapped between the upper edges of the walls defining the base and the cover portion forming a seal. The second embodiment utilizes a start button which comprises a disk like support which is formed of an elastomeric material that on assembly is trapped and squeezed between the upper edges of the walls defining the base and the cover portion forming a seal.

Sealed switch

This is an electric switch having an actuator with a transversely located movable contact moving within a housing having two parallel fixed contacts, the actuator includes projections from the exterior walls thereof, which ride in cutaways formed in the housing.

Electric switch

The invention disclosed herein is directed to a tilt action switch using a ball bearing as the movable contact in a body portion. The body portion includes upper and lower segments formed of conductive material. The upper and lower segments are attached together to provide a cavity within which the ball bearing movable contact is positioned. The upper and lower segments each include normally extending support portions with inner surfaces. The inner surface of the upper and lower segments are part with an insulating spacer.

Tilt action switch

The first embodiment of a piezo electric transducer shown in this application has a housing, an actuator, piezoelectric material, a first fixed contact and a second fixed contact. The actuator overlies the piezo-electric material and is attached to the inner surface of the housing. The piezoelectric material overlies the spaced first and second fixed contacts whereby distortion of the piezoelectric material by the actuator causes a current to flow between the first and second fixed contacts. In the second embodiment the piezoelectric material is attached to the inner surface of the housing. In a variation of the first and second embodiments, the piezo electric material is sandwiched between first and second dome portions. The first dome portion is engaged to a first fixed contact and the second dome portion is engaged to a second fixed contact.

Piezo electric transducer

The switch includes a cap, a base portion, a dome retainer subassembly and a support portion. The base portion includes an upper surface and an actuator block. The cap and actuator block are located within a depression of the base portion formed by sides of the base upper surface. The dome retainer subassembly and the support portion are mounted in superposed abutting relation with respect to the cap and the base portion. Pressure on the cap causes at least one movable dome contact of the dome retainer subassembly to electrically engage corresponding first and second contacts located on the support portion facing surface.

This is an electric switch utilizing a cam which has a pair of spaced springs bearing against the movable contact. The switch operates by applying pressure to a camming surface which compresses one of the springs and causes the movable contact to shift from one position to another.

Alternate action pushbutton switch

This is a slide switch which is formed by insert molding the base of the switch around a metal stamping which has a central portion arced to move the terminal elements closer together prior to molding. The movable contact assemblies comprise an actuator associated with a movable contact. The movable contact includes a first and second arm which are in spaced apposed relation to each other.

Slide switch

A DIP coded rotary switch which has a housing, a rotor, a base, a fixed contact and a series of contact portions. The base is formed by insert molding around a unitary metal stamping. The metal stamping is then separated into the contact portions and the fixed contact. The housing is box like and has an inner surface providing a cavity, an engagement wall which extends from a circular, through first aperture to a second through aperture, the engagement wall provides a convoluted configuration facing into the cavity. Each of the contact portions has a movable contact portion and each of the movable contact portions includes a free terminal end. The terminal end of each of the movable contact portions is positioned in superimposed, spaced relation to the fixed contact portion. The rotor includes first and second spring cam portions which flexibly bear against the convoluted configuration of the engagement wall.

Rotary switch

The invention is directed to a membrane switch comprising a first layer 30 of flexible insulating material and a second layer 50 having relatively inflexible characteristics, each layer 30, 50 having an array of conductors 40, 54 disposed thereon and defining a plurality of switch point areas over a substantial portion of the respective layers. The first sheet is transparent and carries visible symbols on the inner surface thereof formed by a first layer 36 of inks printed thereon and further includes a barrier coating over such symbols to provide contrast therefore. The first array 40 of conductors is printed on the barrier coating. The second array 54 of conductors is printed on the inflexible layer. The first and second arrays 40, 54 of conductors are connected to respective voltage sources, preferably by further arrays of conductors 42, 56 disposed over at least portions of the first and second arrays, 40, 54 the further arrays 42, 56 being of a material having a higher conductivity than the material used for the first and second arrays 40, 54. Spacer means 58 for the switch is formed by printing an array of spaced apart dots of a dielectric and insulating coating on top of at least one of the arrays of conductors in the defined switch point areas to hold the switch point areas normally apart until pressure is placed thereupon to deform the first sheet 30 and effect a switch closure between corresponding switch point areas of the arrays 40, 54. A method for making the switch is also disclosed.
