A method for regenerating an exhaust aftertreatment system, in particular a particulate filter of an internal combustion engine, situated in a vehicle, having regeneration cycles controlled by a control device. An optimized regeneration of the exhaust aftertreatment system is achieved by supplying information relating to the travel route to the control device and controlling the regeneration cycles, taking the information into consideration.

Method for regenerating an exhaust aftertreatment system

A procedure for the operation of an internal combustion engine is disclosed, in whose exhaust gas area a particle filter is arranged which is freed from the stored particles during a regeneration. A measure for a load of the combustion engine is compared to a load threshold value. An overrun cut-off, at which the fuel metering is completely suppressed, is carried out if the measure for the load falls below the load threshold value and if the engine speed of the combustion engine lies above an engine speed threshold value. The load threshold value that has been determined to a value higher than zero is further dependant on the particle filter's regeneration signal. The procedure aims to prevent the overheating of the particle filter during its regeneration.

Procedures for the operation of an internal combustion engine's particle filter and the mechanism for the execution of the procedure

A procedure to operate a particle filter disposed in an exhaust gas area of an internal combustion engine and a device to implement the procedure are proposed. The particle filter is regenerated if required by the particles lodged in the filter, whereby the particle filter is heated for regeneration by manipulation of the exhaust gas temperature upstream in front of the particle filter. During the regeneration of the particle filter, the exhaust gas temperature is established to a specified exhaust gas temperature set point, which is dependent upon at least one parameter of the particle filter during the regeneration. The procedural approach according to the invention allows for a quick regeneration of the particle filter without endangering the particle filter with an inadmissibly high temperature.

Procedure to operate a particle filter disposed in an exhaust gas area of an internal combustion engine and device to implement the procedure

A method for operating a sensor for recording particles in an exhaust gas flow and a device for carrying out the method are provided, in which at least one measure of the exhaust gas flow is ascertained and in which the measure of the exhaust gas flow is taken into consideration in the valuation of the particle sensor signal made available by the particle sensor. The procedure is based on the knowledge that the exhaust gas flow, for instance, the exhaust gas volume flow, has an influence on the particle sensor signal made available by the particle sensor, especially when the measuring effect is based on the depositing of particles on a sensor surface. Using the procedure, a possibly present cross sensitivity of the particle sensor with respect to different exhaust gas flows is taken into consideration, so that the measuring accuracy is increased.

Method for operating a sensor for recording particles in a gas stream and device for implementing the method

The present invention relates to an exhaust emission control apparatus for an internal combustion engine and a process for operating it. The exhaust emission control has a particulate filter for filtering particulate matter from the exhaust of the internal combustion engine, at least one temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the exhaust, an evaluation unit for evaluating the detected temperature, particularly with regard to a particulate mass burned during a regeneration operation of the particulate filter. The temperature sensor is positioned inside the particulate filter.

Exhaust gas purification for internal combustion engines and method for operating the same

A fuel injection valve for internal combustion engines, having a valve member guided axially displaceably, counter to a closing force, in a blind bore of a valve body. The valve member on an end toward the combustion chamber has a conical valve sealing face, with which the valve sealing face cooperates with a conical valve seat face on the inward-projecting closed end of the blind bore. A blind bore region, adjoins the conical valve seat face downstream, from which region injection openings lead into the combustion chamber of the engine. The blind bore wall region that receives the injection openings is embodied conically, and the injection openings have a certain minimum spacing from an upper and a lower end of this conical blind bore wall region.
