An apparatus for the removal of proof sheets from a sheet-processing machine has at least one sheet catcher provided with a gripper device. The gripper draws the sheet out of the stacking region. A lower sheet catcher is first moved into the stacking region above the sheet stack. Following a deposition of at least one proof sheet, the sheet is gripped with the gripper device, and following sheets are held back with an upper sheet catcher. Then the proof sheet is drawn out of the stacking region by moving the lower sheet catcher and the gripper device back.

Method and apparatus for proof sheet removal

Sheets are conveyed through a printing machine with improved reliability of the suction grippers. The apparatus for conveying a sheet through a printing machine has a cylinder with grippers in a channel for holding the sheet at its leading edge, circulating grippers for holding and for transferring the sheet from the cylinder at its leading edge, and circulating, radially positionable suction grippers for holding the sheet at its trailing edge. An actuating apparatus opens and closes the grippers and controls vacuum for the suction grippers. A drive for the cylinder and circulating grippers and suction grippers. A control device switches on and off the sheet feed to the cylinder. The suction grippers can be moved in the radial direction into a rest position when the sheet feed is switched off.

A machine for processing a sheet of printing material contains a first chain conveyor having a first gripper bar for holding a leading edge of the sheet, and a second chain conveyor having a rear gripper bar for simultaneously holding a trailing end of the sheet. A processing device is assigned to the chain conveyors for processing the sheet. A distance changing device is provided for temporarily reducing a gripper distance between the two gripper bars and, consequently, producing a sheet sag required for the processing of the sheet carried out by the processing device. The distance changing device defines a first circulation path of the front gripper bar, determined by the first chain conveyor, and a second circulation path of the rear gripper bar, determined by the second chain conveyor, running locally differently from each other. The processing device can be, for example, a sheet smoother.

Machine for processing a sheet of printing material

An apparatus for transporting a printing material sheet includes a holding crossmember for holding the printing material sheet and a traveling-wave motor for driving the holding crossmember. The traveling-wave motor has a first traveler and a second traveler for mounting the holding crossmember. The holding crossmember is mounted through a spring suspension. The spring suspension can be, for example, a flexible joint in the form of a flexible bellows.

A sheet-processing machine includes a conveyor for transporting processed sheets at a processing speed and for releasing the sheets for braking to a depositing speed. A braking element serves for the braking of the released sheets to the depositing speed. A drive is provided for the braking element, and a drive connection is provided for connecting the drive to the braking element. Further included are an overrunning clutch in the drive connection, and a brake for retarding the braking element.

A device for feeding sheets to a sheet-processing machine includes a feeding table. Front lays are disposed at a front end of the feeding table, as viewed in a sheet-conveying direction. A first guide device is disposed immediately upstream from the front lays, as viewed in the sheet-conveying direction, and above the feeding table, and is adjustable vertically with respect to the feeding table. A second guide device is disposed upstream from the vertically adjustable first guide device, as viewed in the sheet-conveying direction. A method of operating a sheet-processing rotary printing press provided with a die cutting or punching unit and a delivery for forming processed sheets into a sheet pile or stack includes, in a first method step, moving the punching or die cutting unit, during production printing by the rotary printing press, from a first operating state of the unit wherein the sheets are punched or die cut, into a second operating state of the unit wherein the sheets are not punched or die cut as they pass the punching or die cutting unit, and after a given number of non-punched or non-die cut sheets have passed through the unit. In a second method step, the punching or die cutting unit is moved back into the first operating state thereof. The invention also includes a method of operating the printing press.

A sheet-guiding device has a sheet-guiding element for a sheet-fed printing machine having an impression cylinder and a further cylinder adjacent thereto, the sheet-guiding element being disposed for guiding a sheet transported by the impression cylinder when the further cylinder is set-off from the impression cylinder. The further cylinder includes a cylinder selected from the group thereof consisting of an applicator cylinder for applying ink or varnish, respectively, to a sheet lying on the impression cylinder, and a tool cylinder for applying a finishing step to a sheet lying on the impression cylinder. The sheet-guiding element is disposed separately from the further cylinder and covers an impression zone of the impression cylinder.
