Microporous membranes are described and characterized as having a morphological microstructure of very highly elongated nodes interconnected by fibrils which form a structural network of voids or pores through the spaces between the nodes and fibrils, which voids or pores extend from one side of the membrane to the other. The membranes are highly uniform in terms of mass per volume, have very high strength and a very open microstructure.

Strong, air permeable membranes of polytetrafluoroethylene

A sealing tape for sealing the gaps between the edge of an opening in an aircraft fuselage and the lid closing said opening comprising a sealing tape that is a one-piece porous polymeric material having a relatively wide flat portion and a narrower enlarged bulb portion. In addition, the porous polymeric material may be filled or plated with metal powder or filings so that the one-piece sealing tape is rendered conductive.

Conductive shielding and sealing tape

An improved multiconductor ribbon cable the conductors having at least two layers of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) insulation, a porous unsintered inner layer, that is, the one closest to the conductors, and an impermeable sintered outer layer. Webs of impermeable sintered PTFE connect the insulated conductors. The process for manufacturing the cable includes embedding the conductors between inner sheets of expanded unsintered PTFE and outer sheets of extruded unsintered PTFE, then compressing the sheets only in the web region to high density, and sintering the webs plus the outer insulation layer.
