A device for feeding and controlling secondary air from secondary air ducts into flue gas channels of horizontal coke oven chambers is shown. The flue gas channels are located underneath the coke oven chamber floor on which coal carbonization is realized. The flue gas channels serve for combustion of partly burnt coking gases from the coke oven chamber. The partly burnt gases are burnt with secondary air, thus heating the coke cake also from below to ensure even coal carbonization. Secondary air comes from the secondary air ducts connected to atmospheric air and to the flue gas channels. Controlling elements are mounted in the connecting channels between the flue gas channels and secondary air ducts which can precisely control the air flow into the flue gas channels. Thereby, it is possible to achieve a much more regular heating and heat distribution in coke oven chambers. The actual controlling devices in the connecting channels can be formed by turnable pipe sections, wall bricks, or metal flaps. It is particularly advantageous to utilize a hump-like facility (tabouret) which sits in the secondary air ducts and which is comprised of a tabouret plate with a central opening that is slid under the corresponding embranchment to regulate the gas stream. The controlling mechanism can be actuated manually, electrically, or pneumatically. Thereby, the controlling device can also be automated.

Controllable air ducts for feeding of additional combustion air into the area of flue gas channels of coke oven chambers

Disclosed is a device and a method for feeding primary combustion air for the combustion of coke oven gas into a coking chamber of a coke oven of the non-recovery or heat recovery type, the coke oven is provided with openings in the oven chamber through which the oven chamber can be charged with primary air, and heating flues in the oven chamber sole with openings through which the heating flues can be charged with secondary air, and downcomer-channels which allow for guiding partially burned gas for combustion with secondary air from the oven chamber into the heating flues, wherein in the oven wall above the door or in the upper door area there are one or more non-controlled openings comprised of a heat-proof material through which part of the primary air can be guided, and in the top area of the oven there are further controllable air feeder ducts conducting primary air through the oven top.

Device for feeding combustion air or gas influencing coal carbonization into the upper area of coke ovens

The invention relates to a method and a device for evacuating hot raw gases which occur in the oven chambers of a coke oven battery during coking. The oven gases are lead from the oven chambers into a hot gas collector. The pressure in the oven chambers is controlled by shut-off and throttling devices which are arranged in the hot gas streams between the raw gas outlet of the oven chambers and the hot gas collector. The positions of the devices are controlled according to the pressure that is measured in the allocated oven chamber. The gas of the hot gas collector is supplied to a steam boiler firing or a fission reactor.

Method and device for evacuating hot raw gases from coke ovens

A method is provided for operating a coke oven battery including many identical coking chambers, a raw gas receiver, and throttle devices arranged in the receiver for individually controlling the gas pressure in the chambers. Each throttle device includes an immersion bucket acted upon by water. Gas lines terminating in immersion pipes in the immersion buckets connect the chambers with the receiver. Throttle devices are employed that include an overflow that can be vertically adjusted by an actuating drive for controlling the liquid level in the immersion bucket. For a coking chamber to which a pressure control device is allotted, the setting signals for the actuating drive allocated to the time pressure curve in the process of carbonizing coal to coke are recorded as a position-time curve. The actuating drives of throttle devices that are allocated to coking chambers without pressure control devices are controlled according to the position-time curve.

Method for operating a coke-oven battery

Coking system, wherein the coking blends particularly based on hard coal, are fed batchwise to a reactor (1), which is heated indirectly by heat recovery in regenerators (I, II) or recuperators, whereby the reactor is built as a high-capacity coking reactor (100), several high-capacity coking reactors are combined to form a reactor block and the high-capacity coking reactors are built as mutually independent modules, whereby each module can be operated or optionally replaced independently of the neighboring modules, with little or no impairment of the operation of the neighboring modules. The individual reactors are independently operatable in terms of statics and heat supply. The regenerators, or recuperators (I, II, R, R') can be arranged laterally or underneath the reactor chamber. Neighboring reactors can have a common intermediate wall (2). The reactor chambers have a width of at least 0.7 m, a height of at least 8.5 m and a length of at least 18 m.

Coking reactor

A refractory brick is installed in a transfer flue with vertical orifices disposed between, on the one hand, the regenerators or recuperators and, on the other hand, the combustion chambers of industrial gas-fired systems, particularly a coke oven. The refractory brick has parallel surfaces and the length of the orifices in the brick is at least six times their diameter. The sum of the cross-sectional areas of the orifices is from 0.75 to 1.5 times the flow cross section of the upwardly-inclined portion of the transfer flue. The cross sections of the orifices can be cylindrical or elliptical. The orifices can be longitudinal slots whose cross-sectional areas are bounded by semicircles and whose cross-sectional length is not greater than three times the diameter of the semicircles.

Transfer flue with means for improving the flow of gases

There is disclosed a heating system for regeneratively heating a coke oven battery having twin-heating flues extending side-by-side transversely of the length of the coke oven battery. Halves of the twin-heating flues are separated by a flue midfeather that forms a gas flow space at the top thereof. Between twin-heating flues, there is a heating wall midfeather extending up to the oven crown. Regenerators below the oven sole extend transversely to the coke oven battery with each regenerator coupled by three passageways to the heating flues. Two regenerators are associated with each twin-heating flue. A first passageway extends to the bottom part of one-half of one twin-heating flue, a second passageway extends to the bottom part of one-half of an adjacent twin-heating flue with these two flue halves separated by a heating wall midfeather. A third passageway extends upwardly in the heating wall midfeather where branched passageways extend into the two heating flue halves of adjacent twin-heating flues at an elevation above the oven sole.

Heating system for a coke oven battery having twin-heating flues

A heating flue for a coke oven includes a flow plate to replace the base in the heating flue. The thickness of the flow plate is greater than the thickness of the flue base and disposed above a chamber which is divided into two halves in a gas-tight manner by a central web of refractory material. Each chamber communicates with ducts that feed preheated air from regenerators during rich-gas firing and feed preheated air and lean gas during firing with lean gas. The height of the chamber to the thickness of the flow plate is a ratio within 0.3 to 0.7, preferably 0.5. The flow plate has a plurality of bores each with a cross-sectional area which, when compared with the cross-sectional area of the plate, forms a ratio of between 20 and 200, preferably 30 to 60. The diameter of a cylindrical bore is between 10 and 60 millimeters, preferably 20 and 50 millimeters.

A heating flue for a coke oven includes a wedge-shaped refractory brick having at least one oblique surface and vertical cylindrical bores when the brick is inserted into the vertical portion of a duct at the bottom of the heating flue. This part of the duct has an increased diameter to support the brick so that the vertical sides abut the inner duct walls and the bottom oblique surface extends toward the mouth of an obliquely-rising portion of the duct. The sum of the cross-sectional areas of the cylindrical bores in the brick is from 0.75 to 1.5 times the flow cross section of the obliquely-rising duct portion. The cross-sectional area of the top of a wedge-shaped brick which is coplanar with the flue base is in a range of between 20 and 200 with the cross section of the cylindrical bore in the brick. The diameter of the bore is between 10 and 60 millimeters. A ratio of 0.3 to 1.5 is formed between an acute angle between the oblique bottom surface and the horizontal and an angle between the obliquely-rising duct portion and the horizontal. The top surface of the brick may also be oblique and parallel with the bottom surface whereby the brick has the shape of a rhomboid.

The invention resides in the realization that in order to optimize the performance of the nozzle, there must be a specified relationship between the inlet diameters of the frusto-conical orifices, the outlet diameters of the orifices and the radial and circumferential distances between the centers of orifices arranged in concentric circles.
