An electrohydraulic brake system, comprising a brake master cylinder. A pressure generating device for actuating wheel brakes and an additional brake actuator may both be activated electronically. In a normal mode of operation, an open- and closed-loop control unit detects a braking demand based on the actuation of a brake pedal by the driver and activates the pressure generating device to build up braking torque at the wheel brakes. If the pressure generating device is not activated, the driver gains direct access to the wheel brakes and the control unit activates the additional brake actuator to build up braking torque. In the fallback mode, when a predetermined pedal travel threshold value is reached, the control loop activates the additional brake actuator to build up braking torque. In the event of a succession of brake pedal actuations by the driver, the pedal travel threshold value is increased at least once.

Brake system and method for operating a brake system

A brake system for motorcycles and a method for regulating the brake pressure in a motorcycle having an anti-lock function and having an integral brake function are provided. By means of the integral brake function, front wheel brake means are actuated in connection with brake actuation at a rear wheel (RW), and a brake pressure (p) in front wheel brake circuit is regulated on the basis of a predefined dependency (f) of a pressure (p) caused by the brake actuation at the master brake cylinder of a rear wheel brake circuit. In the event of an anti-lock function at the rear wheel (RW), a higher brake pressure (p) is set in the front wheel brake circuit than is set at the present pressure (p) at the master brake cylinder on the basis of the dependency (f) in the absence of anti-lock regulating intervention.

In a method for determining or calibrating the brake control characteristic of a vacuum brake booster of a vehicle brake system, the pressure in the working chamber or the pressure difference between the working chamber and the vacuum chamber of the vacuum brake booster is determined, and either the brake control characteristic is determined on the basis of the determined pressure or pressure difference of the vacuum brake booster, or the stored brake control characteristic is changed according to the determined pressure or pressure difference.

The present invention relates to a method for regulating a predetermined modifiable brake pressure in the wheel brakes of a brake system, wherein input quantities determining the brake pressure in the individual wheel brakes are evaluated and correcting variables of hydraulic valves are defined in a control and/or data processing system. To obviate the need for additional pressure sensors which register the pressure in the wheel brakes, it is arranged for by the invention that a characteristic curve is stored in the control or data processing system, said curve correlating the valve characteristics of the hydraulic valve with a pressure difference of the hydraulic valve, and the correcting variable of the hydraulic valve is defined according to the characteristic curve.

In a method for improving the operation of a hydraulic vehicle brake system with an active hydraulic brake boost, wherein a pressure fluid volume flow between a master brake cylinder and the wheel brakes of the vehicle is controlled by means of an analog or analogized separating valve, and wherein a hydraulic pressure is determined in the master brake cylinder, an increase of the hydraulic pressure in the master brake cylinder is monitored and/or controlled on the basis of the hydraulic pressure determined in the master brake cylinder in a transition of the separating valve from a closed switch position to an open switch position.
