The invention relates to an apparatus for assessing the condition of at least one circulating band in a papermaking machine including a permeability measuring device, a moisture measuring device, a fiber web moisture measuring device, an evaluator, a reel-up and an other moisture measuring device. The permeability measuring device measures the permeability of the at least one circulating band. The moisture measuring device measures the moisture contained in the at least one circulating band. The fiber web moisture measuring device measures the moisture of the fiber web. The evaluator combines the permeability, the moisture of the at least one circulating band and the moisture of the fiber web to determine the condition of the at least one circulating band. The other moisture measurement device is coupled to the reel-up, and takes a moisture measurement of the fiber web made by the papermaking machine.

Apparatus and method for assessing the condition of at least one circulating band in a paper machine

An apparatus and a method for determining the permeability of a circulating band, in particular a water-absorbing dewatering band in a papermaking machine. The apparatus is equipped with a nozzle from which a measuring fluid flows onto or through the band. Fluctuations in the flow of the measuring fluid and in the nozzle exit pressure can distort the measurement of the permeability. The apparatus has a device for determining the speed of the band and/or a device for determining the nozzle exit speed and the nozzle exit pressure of the measuring fluid. These three measured variables are measured simultaneously, so that a fluctuation in one of these measured variables cannot impair the accuracy of the permeability measurement.

Apparatus and method for determining the permeability of a circulating band in a paper machine

An apparatus for measuring the permeability of a circulating band, in particular of a dewatering band in a papermaking machine, having a nozzle from which a measuring fluid flows onto the band. In order to avoid undesired lifting of the nozzle off the band due to pressure peaks, the apparatus according to the present invention has a nozzle which can be pressed onto the circulating band with a constant contact pressure.

Apparatus for measuring the permeability of a circulating band in a paper machine

A water jet cutter for separation of a trim strip from a moving paper, cardboard, tissue or other type of fiber web, in a machine for the production and/or conversion of the fiber web, including at least one nozzle whose water jet is directed onto the fiber web. An advantage of the present invention is to simplify the construction of the device while maintaining at least equal operational reliability, and to enable installation above a pulper in order to eliminate the necessity for removal and extraction systems.

A measuring apparatus includes at least one sensor which is provided on a measuring frame, which can be positioned opposite moving clothing or a device. The devices being, for example, a roll, of a machine for producing and/or treating a material web, in particular a paper or board web. A method of determining at least one property of moving clothing of a machine for producing and/or treating a material web, in particular a paper or board web, which includes the following steps: arranging a nozzle opposite the surface of the moving clothing; producing a jet acting on the clothing by way of the nozzle contacting the moving clothing; measuring a variable representative of the flow through the nozzle; measuring a variable representative of the pressure of the jet at the nozzle outlet; determining the speed of the jet at the nozzle outlet from the nozzle flow and the free surface of the jet medium at the point of contact with the clothing; and determining the speed of the jet at the entry into the clothing from the speed of the jet at the nozzle outlet and the speed of the clothing. By using the speed of the jet at the entry into the clothing at a given pressure of the jet at the nozzle outlet and entry into the clothing, the water permeability of the moving clothing is determined and/or at least one surface property of the moving clothing is determined. A corresponding apparatus is also specified.
