The present invention is related to a method for determination of unit operations of a chemical plant for acid gas removal, the method carried out by a computer or a distributed computer system and the method comprising the steps of: providing (S1) a first set of parameters for the unit operations; providing (S2) a second set of parameters for the unit operations based on the provided first set of parameters and based on data retrieved from a database; determining (S3) a digital model of the chemical plant based on the first set of parameters and the second set of parameters, wherein the digital model comprises a system of equations defining the unit operations of the chemical plant; selecting (S4) starting points for an equation-based solution method of the system of equations, wherein the starting points are at least partially selected from the: —i) the first set of parameters; —ii) the second set of parameters; and —iii) the data retrieved from the database; determining (S5) resultant settings for the unit operations of the chemical plant using the equation-based solution method for the system of equations initialized by the selected starting points.

Simulation of unit operations of a chemical plant for acid gas removal

A plant for removing COfrom a fluid stream via an aqueous absorption medium contains a) a first absorption zone for treating the fluid stream with a partially regenerated absorption medium, b) a second absorption zone for treating the treated fluid stream with a regenerated absorption medium, c) a first flash vessel for depressurizing the loaded absorption medium, d) a second flash vessel for depressurizing the sub-partially regenerated absorption medium, e) a stripper for thermally regenerating the partially regenerated absorption medium, f) a conduit for feeding a substream of the partially regenerated absorption medium into the first absorption zone and a conduit for feeding a further substream of the partially regenerated absorption medium into a stripper, g) a conduit for recirculating the regenerated absorption medium to the second absorption zone, and h) a jet pump for compressing the water vapor-comprising, second CO-comprising gas stream.

Two-stage method for removing COfrom synthesis gas

An absorbent for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide over carbon dioxide from a fluid stream comprises an aqueous solution of a) a tertiary amine, b) a sterically hindered secondary amine of the general formula (I) in which Rand Rare each independently selected from C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; R, R, Rand Rare each independently selected from hydrogen, C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl, with the proviso that at least one Rand/or Rradical on the carbon atom bonded directly to the nitrogen atom is C-alkyl or C-hydroxyalkyl when Ris hydrogen; x and y are integers from 2 to 4 and z is an integer from 1 to 4; where the molar ratio of b) to a) is in the range from 0.05 to 1.0, and c) an acid in an amount, calculated as neutralization equivalent relative to the protonatable nitrogen atoms in a) and b), of 0.05 to 15.0%. One preferred amine of the formula I is 2-(2-tert-butylaminoethoxy)ethanol. The absorbent allows a defined HS selectivity to be set at pressures of the kind typical in natural gas processing.

Absorbent for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide from a fluid stream

A process for removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from a fluid stream comprises a) an absorption step in which the fluid stream is contacted with an absorbent comprising an aqueous solution (i) of an amine of the general formula (I) in which R, Rand Rare each independently selected from C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; each Ris independently selected from hydrogen, C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; each Ris independently selected from hydrogen, C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; X is OH or NH(CRRR); m is 2, 3, 4 or 5; n is 2, 3, 4 or 5; and o is 0 or 1; and optionally (ii) at least one tertiary amine, where the molar ratio of (i) to (ii) is greater than 0.05; wherein at least 90% of the hydrogen sulfide is removed from the fluid stream and selectivity for hydrogen sulfide over carbon dioxide is not greater than 8, wherein a CO&#x2014; and HS-laden absorbent is obtained; b) a regeneration step in which at least a substream of the CO&#x2014; and HS-laden absorbent is regenerated and a regenerated absorbent is obtained; and c) a recycling step in which at least a substream of the regenerated absorbent is recycled into the absorption step a). The process allows a high level of hydrogen sulfide removal with a simultaneously high coabsorption of carbon dioxide.

Removal of hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide from a stream of fluid

The use of an amine of the formula (I) in which the Rto Rradicals are each as defined in the description, and an absorbent and a process for removing acidic gases from a fluid stream, especially for selectively removing hydrogen sulfide over carbon dioxide. The invention also relates to particular amines suitable for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide. Absorbents based on amines of the formula (I) have high selectivity, high loading capacity and good regeneration capacity.

Cyclic amine for selectively removing hydrogen sulphide

In a process for removing COfrom a fluid stream by means of an aqueous absorption medium, a) the fluid stream is introduced into a first absorption zone and treated with partially regenerated absorption medium, b) the treated fluid stream is treated with regenerated absorption medium in a second absorption zone, giving a fluid stream which has been freed of COand a loaded absorption medium, c) the loaded absorption medium is depressurized in a first flash vessel to a pressure of from 1.2 to 3 bar absolute, giving a sub-partially regenerated absorption medium and a first CO-comprising gas stream, d) the sub-partially regenerated absorption medium is depressurized in a second flash vessel to a pressure of from 1 to 1.2 bar absolute, giving a partially regenerated absorption medium and a water vapor-comprising, second CO-comprising gas stream, e) a substream of the partially regenerated absorption medium is fed into the first absorption zone and a further substream of the partially regenerated absorption medium is fed into a stripper in which the partially regenerated absorption medium is thermally regenerated, with regenerated absorption medium and a third CO-comprising gas stream being obtained and the stripper being operated at a pressure which is at least 0.9 bar higher than the pressure in the first flash vessel, f) the regenerated absorption medium is recirculated to the second absorption zone, g) the water vapor-comprising, second CO-comprising gas stream is compressed by means of a jet pump and brought into direct heat exchange contact with the loaded absorption medium in the first flash vessel, with the jet pump being operated by means of the third CO-comprising gas stream. The latent heat of the water vapor-comprising gas streams remains in the process and the use of a costly compressor is dispensable.

A process for removing C-C-hydrocarbons and acid gases from a fluid stream is described, where a) the fluid stream is brought into contact with an absorption medium comprising at least one amine in an absorption zone to obtain a deacidified fluid stream and an acid-gases-laden absorption medium, b) the laden absorption medium is heated in a first heat exchanger and decompressed into a decompression zone to a pressure of from 5 to 10 bar to obtain a C-C-hydrocarbons-comprising gas phase and a hydrocarbon-depleted laden absorption medium, c) the hydrocarbon-depleted laden absorption medium is heated in an optional second heat exchanger and passed into a stripper in which at a pressure of 1 to 2.5 bar the acid gases are at least partially liberated by supplying heat to obtain a regenerated absorption medium and an acid-gas-comprising stream, and d) the regenerated absorption medium is recycled into the absorption zone.

Method for separating C5-C8 hydrocarbons and acid gases from a fluid stream

An absorbent for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide from a fluid stream comprises an aqueous solution comprising a) a tertiary amine; b) an aminic pH promoter selected from the compounds mentioned in the description; where the molar ratio of b) to a) is in the range from 0.05 to 1.0; and c) an acid having a pKof less than 6 in such an amount that the pH of the aqueous solution measured at 120&#xb0; C. is 7.9 to less than 8.8. Also described is a process for removing acidic gases from a fluid stream, in which the fluid stream is contacted with the absorbent. The absorbent is notable for a low regeneration energy.

Absorbent for the selective removal of hydrogen sulfide

An absorbent for removing carbon dioxide from a fluid stream, comprising an aqueous solution a) of an amine of the general formula (I) in which R, Rand Rare each independently selected from C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; each Ris independently selected from hydrogen, Calkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; each Ris independently selected from hydrogen, C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; X is OH or NH(CRRR); m is 2, 3, 4 or 5; n is 2, 3, 4 or 5; and o is 0 or 1; and b) at least one activator selected from b1) a sterically unhindered primary amine and/or a sterically unhindered secondary amine; and a carboanhydrase. The absorbent allows rapid absorption of carbon dioxide from fluid streams.

Removal of carbon dioxide from a fluid flow

A process for removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from a fluid stream comprises a) an absorption step in which the fluid stream is contacted with an absorbent comprising an aqueous solution (i) of an amine of the general formula (I) in which R, Rand Rare each independently selected from C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; each Ris independently selected from hydrogen, C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; each Ris independently selected from hydrogen, C-alkyl and C-hydroxyalkyl; X is OH or NH(CRRR); m is 2, 3, 4 or 5; n is 2, 3, 4 or 5; and o is 0 or 1; and optionally (ii) at least one tertiary amine, where the molar ratio of (i) to (ii) is greater than 0.05; wherein at least 90% of the hydrogen sulfide is removed from the fluid stream and selectivity for hydrogen sulfide over carbon dioxide is not greater than 8, wherein a CO- and HS-laden absorbent is obtained; b) a regeneration step in which at least a substream of the CO- and HS-laden absorbent is regenerated and a regenerated absorbent is obtained; and c) a recycling step in which at least a substream of the regenerated absorbent is recycled into the absorption step a). A method for removing acid gases from a fluid stream comprises a) treating the fluid stream in an absorption zone with an absorption medium which comprises an aqueous solution of at least one amine, conducting the treated fluid stream through at least two scrubbing zones and treating it with a non-acidic aqueous phase in order to transfer entrained amine and/or entrained amine decomposition products at least in part to the aqueous phase, wherein aqueous phase is recycled via at least one scrubbing zone and aqueous phase is conducted through at least one scrubbing zone without recycling. The method permits efficient retention of amines from the treated fluid streams.
