A computer-implemented method is disclosed for integrating at least one first communication terminal assigned to a user as a preferred device in a static configuration of a communication system and/or for dynamically switching from a first communication terminal used as a preferred device to a second communication terminal as a preferred device for providing a one-number service using the preferred device, to which a one-number service number is assigned, wherein at least two communication terminals are statically assigned to the user and a preferred device is also dynamically assigned to the user through a virtual device. Also disclosed is communication system designed for this purpose.

Integrating a communication terminal as the preferred device in a static communication system configuration

A display of an icon includes creating and displaying an icon that provides indicia regarding information relevant to an application to which the icon is assigned. The indicia provides information to a user and is always in the foreground of a display when the application is running regardless of whether the application is currently actively in use and being interacted with by a user or not. At least one expandable indicia is included within the icon. Input provided by clicking the expandable indicia actuates an expanded window for displaying more detailed information. Indicia is also presentable on the icon to provide real time information to a user who is actively using another application such as whether a connection to a server hosting services for the application is lost. A presence state of the user is displayable via presence indicia located on the icon as well.

According to said method, a bandwidth test is performed as a prerequisite for transmission, said test verifying whether the currently available bandwidth is sufficient for transmitting the requested software or data. The server () does not transmit the requested software or the requested data if the result of the bandwidth test is negative.

In one aspect, a call distribution in a direct communication network, also designated as a peer-to-peer network is provided. In doing this, the difficulty exists of integrating the call distributing functionality into the peer-to-peer network while retaining the self-organization capability and the fail-safety of existing peer-to-peer networks. The invention relates to a system for switching, controlling, programming and operating communications devices, particularly communications terminals or communications systems. According to the invention, the at least one communications device (TE, TE, MOF, SYS) can be connected to at least one entertainment terminal (FER) via at least one interface (IEE), and the communications device TE, TE, MOF, SYS) and the at least one entertainment terminal (FER) are configured for exchanging signals and/or data via the at least one interface (IEE). The communication device is configured to switch from a first mode to an administrative mode to search for an active entertainment terminal. The entertainment terminal (FER) advantageously has at least one display (ANZ) and at least one input (BED). The entertainment terminal is, for example, a television set (FER).

System for switching, controlling, programming and operating communication devices

In order to establish a communication connection between two subscribers in a direct communication network, signaling information containing subscriber address information is exchanged between subscribers participating in the communication connection. The communication connection is directly established between the subscribers participating in the communication connection on the basis of the subscriber address information. According to the invention, the following steps are carried out: first, subscriber address information of at least one target subscriber required for establishing a paired communication connection between the subscribers is stored in a first subscriber; the stored subscriber address information of the target subscriber is then transmitted to a calling subscriber by the first subscriber; and the calling subscriber uses said subscriber address information in order to establish the communication connection between the calling subscriber and the target subscriber.
