An arrangement for examining a sample which can be excited by means of electromagnetic radiation comprises a first dichroitic beam splitter having a first and a second prism, which are connected to one another on the base surfaces thereof, and a dichroitic layer arranged between the base surfaces of the two prisms, wherein an entry surface of the first prism encloses an angle (&#x3b2;) in the range from 10&#xb0; to &#x3c;40&#xb0; with the dichroitic layer. Furthermore a light source provides the electromagnetic radiation suitable for excitation of the sample, the radiation coupled into the entry surface of the first prism, wherein a part of the radiation is reflected on the dichroitic layer in the direction of the sample, which is positioned downstream of an exit surface of the first prism. Finally, a detector detects electromagnetic radiation emitted by the sample, passed through the beam splitter and leaving the latter on a measurement surface. The invention further relates to a dichroitic beam splitter, for use in said arrangement.

A weighing scale, e.g. a top-pan scale, having a scale pan () supported on a force transducer, and a corner load sensor () measuring the tilting of the scale pan () relative to the force transducer. The corner load sensor includes a light beam source () emitting a first light beam and a second light beam. The first light beam and the second light beam are directed toward a reflecting surface on an underside of an arrangement that includes the scale pan (). The first light beam and the second light beam are respectively inclined relative to the reflecting surface of the untilted scale pan (). The corner load sensor () of the scale also includes a first optical sensor () measuring the first light beam reflected by the reflecting surface. If no corner load exists, a predetermined proportion () of the reflected first light beam is directed to the first optical sensor (). If the scale pan () is tilted, the proportions of the reflected light beams which fall on the two optical sensors () change. The corner load sensor () has an evaluating unit determining the tilt of the scale pan () dependent on the light quantities measured with the two optical sensors ().

An inclination sensor is provided having a level that has a liquid and a gas bubble under a covering glass in a housing. A light source is arranged above the covering glass. The inclination sensor can be used to determine a direction and degree of an inclination with high accuracy and which is suitable for automatically aligning an apparatus provided with the inclination sensor. An arrangement is provided that has at least two light receivers arranged above the covering glass such that the light that is emitted from the light source and, in the case of a centered gas bubble, is scattered on the surface of the covering glass coming in contact with the gas bubble can be detected by the at least two light receivers. Different quantities of light can be detected by the light receivers when the gas bubble is not centered, and the light source and the light receivers are arranged on a chip substrate.
