The invention relates to a hydraulic system () comprising a main pump () and a precompression pump (), whereby the outlet () of the precompression pump () is connected by a connecting line () to the inlet () of the main pump (). The outlet () of the main pump () can be connected by a working line () to a consumer (A, B). The volume flow at the inlet () of the main pump () is changeable. The aim of the invention is to achieve greater efficiency. The precompression pump () comprises an adjusting device () for adjusting the flow rate.

The control valve ( ) is used to regulate the actuating pressure which is present in an actuating volume ( ) and which is acting on the actuating piston ( ), in accordance with a control force acting on a valve piston ( ) of the control valve ( ). The actuating piston ( ) is structurally separate from the control valve ( ) and the actuating piston ( ) is connected to the valve piston ( ) of the control valve ( ) by a readjusting spring ( ) that opposes the control force.
