A tool body and a tool for cutting machining, wherein the tool body extends in an axial direction and at least a portion of the tool body is formed with a solid outer jacket encasing a core structure. The core structure includes a three-dimensional open lattice structure attached to the outer jacket and made of a lattice structure material. The core structure further includes a filling structure of a solid phase filling material that is different from the lattice structure material, wherein the filling structure surrounds the lattice structure. The lattice structure and the outer jacket are manufactured using additive manufacturing and the filling material is added to the lattice structure in the form of a liquid or a powder, which is thereafter solidified.

Tool body, a tool and a method for manufacturing a tool body

A tool for chip-removing machining including a tool body and at least one cutting insert mounted in an insert seat of the tool body. The cutting insert includes an upper side and a lower side directed toward a bottom contact surface of the insert seat. The cutting insert is formed by sintering together two compacted powder parts, one of the parts forming an upper part and the other forming a lower part. An imaginary plane is defined between the lower and upper parts. A side surface extends between the upper and lower sides around the periphery of the cutting insert, and at least one cutting edge is formed in a transition between the upper side and the side surface. The tool is configured so that the tool body contacts the side surface of the cutting insert only above the imaginary plane along an upper part of the side surface.

A milling disc is formed as a generally circular disc having a center axis and including an outer peripheral surface provided with a number of cutting edges, a first side having a bearing surface around the center axis, and attachment means arranged to interact with mating attachment means of a rotatable mounting shaft to allow rotary preventing attachment of the milling disc to the rotatable shaft and forcing of the bearing surface towards a mounting surface at an end surface of the shaft. The milling disc is provided with at least one flushing fluid channel having a confined cross-section and extending within the milling disc from an inlet opening in its bearing surface to at least one outlet opening in its peripheral surface. There is also provided a rotatable mounting shaft for the rotatable attachment of such a milling disc.

A double-sided, indexable milling insert has a round basic shape defined by an imaginary cylinder, which is concentric with a center axis and extends between two reference planes that extend perpendicular to the center axis and are equidistantly separated from a neutral plane. The milling insert includes a pair of opposite chip faces located in the reference planes between which an envelope surface concentric with the center axis extends, a plurality of identical and alternately usable cutting edges along the peripheries of the chip faces, and lock means for rotationally securing the milling insert in one of several predetermined index positions. The individual cutting edge has the shape of a wave trough and includes two edge segments that meet at a bottom point.

A milling tool is disclosed having a front head and a rear holder, which are detachably connected by means of a male/female coupling as well as a screw and a washer. Via a main duct, cooling liquid is fed to a chamber, from which it is fed out via branch ducts to individual milling inserts. The front chamber is closed by means of a cover that is held applied against a ring surface surrounding the chamber. The cover is tightenable by means of a threaded joint that is operative independently of a threaded joint between the screw and a front section of the main duct.

Milling insert and tool for center cutting milling of material. At least one first cutting edge is terminated in or adjacent to a center axis defined by the milling insert and includes a first cutting edge portion having a first radius that is essentially equally great for each point of the first cutting edge portion. The first cutting edge includes at least one second cutting edge portion that is plane or has at least one second radius for each point of the respective second cutting edge portion, the at least one second radius being greater than the first radius and that is situated between the first cutting edge portion and the center axis. One second cutting edge portion adjoins the first cutting edge portion, and one second cutting edge portion is terminated in or adjacent to the center axis.

A cutting tool, and a loose top therefore, includes two parts detachably connected to each other via a threaded joint in which co-operating male and female threads are included in the form of helicoidal ridges. The profile shape of each helicoidal ridge is defined by a top and two flanks, which delimit a helicoidal groove having a bottom. The first flank is inclined in relation to a center axis of the tool at a first angle that is smaller than a second angle of the second flank in relation to the center axis. Accordingly, the thread ridge is reinforced in comparison with thread ridges having a symmetrical profile shape, whereby larger tensile forces than compressive forces can be applied to the threaded joint while avoiding damage to the thread ridges.

An indexable milling insert includes opposite top and bottom sides between which a peripheral clearance surface extends, and two opposite cutting edges formed in the transition between the top side and the clearance surface. Each of the cutting edges includes a substantially straight portion connected with a straight section of the clearance surface, and further includes a curved portion connected with a convexly arched section of the clearance surface. A coupling including one or more male- and/or female-like engagement members is located along said clearance surface. Furthermore, the milling insert may be used with a shim plate for attachment to a milling tool.

A tool for chip removing machining, including a long narrow basic body having an envelope surface which is concentric with a center axis, and two opposite ends, and a replaceable loose top which is connected to the basic body via a first coupling that includes a first seating formed in one end of the basic body and a first male element formed in one end of the loose top. The basic body includes a primary part body made of a first material having a first modulus of elasticity, and a secondary part body which includes the first seating and is made of a second material having a second modulus of elasticity which is lower than the first modulus of elasticity. The two part bodies of the basic body are interconnected via a second coupling which includes a second seating in the secondary part body as well as a second male element that is formed on the primary part body and has one or more precision machined flank surfaces that are arranged to apply, together with one or more co-operating and precision machined flank surfaces of the second seating, joining axial forces to the part bodies by turning the part bodies in relation to each other.

A rotatable cutting tool for chip-removing machining includes a basic body which defines a center axis of rotation. Cutting inserts are detachably mounted in respective cutting seats that are formed in the basic body. Each insert has a square shape and includes first and second pairs of mutually parallel major cutting edges, four corners, and four wiper edges. Each wiper edge is situated between a major cutting edge and a respective corner. The wiper edges are shorter than the major cutting edges and are inclined relative thereto, wherein an imaginary extension line of the wiper edge forms a first acute angle with the respective major cutting edge as the insert is viewed in a direction perpendicular to the top surface. The cutting seats are arranged to orient the inserts wherein an axially forwardmost wiper edge of each insert lies in a plane oriented perpendicular to the axis, and wherein a radially outermost wiper edge of each insert is oriented parallel to the axis.
