Absorbent products and components for use in absorbent products are disclosed. These absorbent products comprise pressure-sensitive adhesive microfibers and thermoplastic polymer microfibers, that when incorporated into absorbent products provide good liquid transport properties, resiliency, and attachment systems; and further mask odors associated with bodily fluids.

This invention relates to a novel pressure sensitive adhesive formed of a liquid and solid rubber which is substantially resin free. Preferably the adhesive is formed of a weight ratio of solid rubber to liquid rubber of about 1:0.5 to about 1:7. When a thermoplastic rubber is used, an endblock associating resin can also be used with the block copolymer solid rubber composition for improving adhesion and hold properties of the composition. A minor amount of tackifier can be added without affecting the improved properties of the present invention. The adhesive can preferably be cross linked with a sulfur, sulfur-bearing agents, peroxide, isocyanate or an aluminum isopropylate composition. These adhesives exhibit improved adhesion in cold weather and oily surface applications and other properties. The pressure sensitive adhesives can be used in health care, industrial and drug delivery systems. The adhesives can be processed by a hot melt process for providing improved ecological benefits.

This invention relates to a highly tacky pressure sensitive adhesive having superior high temperature properties. The adhesive is formed of about 50-100 parts of a diblock copolymer and about 0-50 parts of a linear or radial triblock copolymer, a tackifier and a curing agent. The adhesive thus formed can be coated on a backing to form a tape and then vulcanized in situ to provide a precured or prevulcanized adhesive tape having high temperature properties and superior tack properties.

A process is provided for producing a novel two layered or three-layered film of polyethylene and ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer which is heat shrinkable, and after heat shrinking, is elastic and glueable. The process involves uniaxially stretching under controlled, relatively low temperature conditions.

Body member conformable disposable articles and processes for their preparation are described. A preferred embodiment is a disposable absorbent article comprising a flexible, elastic, moisture impermeable backing film, an absorbent layer superposed thereon and a moisture permeable topsheet joined to the backing film along the edges of the topsheet. A portion of at least one longitudinal edge of the backing film has been folded upon itself and heat sealed together at the fold so that when the backing film is laid flat the aforementioned longitudinal edge will be in stretched condition, thus conferring body member conformability to the article.

A corrugated disposable diaper is provided. The diaper has an initially molten liquid-impermeable film as the liquid barrier backing to which is laminated a loosely-compacted cellulosic fibrous batt and a liquid-permeable facing. Multiple strands of elastic are laminated between the initially molten film and a backing fabric in a transverse direction so as to corrugate the fibrous batt and provide a corrugated disposable diaper with longitudinal corrugations.

A sanitary napkin having side panels intended to be folded around the crotch portion of an undergarment includes an adhesive tape tab secured to the apertured film facing of one panel with a free end overlying the opposite panel in the folded configuration. The adhesive coating on the tape tab, an A-B-A/A-B polymer having an adhesion to steel value of 75-140 oz./inch width, provides secure attachment of the tape tab while permitting detachment without substantial tearing of the aperture film facing.

The invention provides an elastic laminated disposable diaper which has a liquid-impermeable backing which is produced from an initially molten extruded elastic film, an absorbent core and a liquid-permeable facing. The facing is at least about 25 percent extensible and is coextensive with the backing. The absorbent unit being laminated between the facing and the backing.
