A dental instrument comprising a shaft and a working part adjoined thereto, with the working part having a coating in which abrasive bodies are embedded, is proposed, Firstly, the average proportion of the surface of the abrasive bodies which is covered by the coating can be at least 60%, preferably at least 65%, most preferably at least 70%. Secondly, the coating can, moreover, also consist of a nickel ahoy which additionally contains at least one element selected from the group consisting of titanium, vanadium, niobium, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, iron and cobalt. In addition, a process for coating a working part, in particular for producing a dental instrument of this type, and also the use of such a dental instrument for cutting machining of solid bodies are proposed.

The present invention is related to clear crosslinkable polymeric masses for the registration of fingerprints, allowing to obtain positive reproductions of fingerprints by taking a photograph through a clear cured layer obtained from said polymeric masses.

A hardenable dental material, exhibiting a reflectivity in the hardened state of preferably more than about 70%, measured according to EN ISO 2813 (1999) with an angle of incidence of 60&#xb0;. The material provides for improved visual readability in the hardened state.

The invention relates to a process of retraction of sulcus, comprising the steps of: applying a silicone material onto and/or at the vicinity of the boundary of a tooth and adjacent sulcus, which silicone material expands during or after its curing reaction; applying a cap onto said tooth, thereby forming a chamber over said silicone material, wherein said chamber comprises as its walls the tooth, the cap and an outer section of said sulcus; whereby said chamber allows for the silicone material to expand into the crevice between sulcus and tooth. Said cap is at least partially filled with a plastically deformable material when applied onto said tooth in step; and/or said cap is deformable, especially under biting pressure.
