The subject matter of the invention proceeds from an encryption of the information for the radio transmission in an access network (ACN) as well as an authentication in at least one core network (CON, CON). Inventively, public keys (PUK-MT, PUK-BS) are mutually transmitted between a mobile station (MT) and the base station (BS) via the radio interface (AI), and the public key (PUK-MT or PUK-BS) received by the base station (BS) or mobile station (MT) is employed for the encryption of the information to be subsequently sent via the radio interface. On the basis of a private key (PRK-MT, PRK-BS) that is allocated to the transmitted, public key (PUK-MT, PUK-BS) in the mobile station (MT) or in the base station (BS), the encrypted information received by the mobile station or base station can be deciphered. Following the encryption procedure, a subscriber identity mobile card (SIM) of the mobile station implements the authentication of the respective core network (CON, CON), and authentication equipment (AC, AC') of the core network implements the authentication of the subscriber on the basis of the mutually transmitted, encrypted information.

Method and communications system for ciphering information for a radio transmission and for authenticating subscribers

The adaptive radio subscriber station (MS) transmits a request (SDRQ) to the transmission network in which it wishes to log on, by which request (SDRQ), interface information (SWIN) is called up in order to identify the radio transmission interface of the transmission network. A control device (for example SCP) in the transmission network receives the request (SDRQ), evaluates it and passes it on to a data device (for example SDP) by which the interface information (SWIN) is provided. A data link is set up in order to transmit the interface information (SWIN) between the data device (for example SDP) and the radio subscriber station (MS) which receives the interface information (SWIN) in the downward transmission direction via a data channel (UDTC) of a data service. The advantages are the avoidance of additional transmission capacity for matching and that the interface information is called up only on request from the adaptive radio subscriber station.

In the method, in the telecommunication system (UNW) N logical speech channels (e.g., S,, S,, S,) are used for the transmission of the speech signals of N subscribers, and only M (with M&lE;N) logical image channels (e.g., B,), which are selected previously, are used for the transmission of the image signals of M subscribers. The subscriber terminal device (MMS) outputs to the subscriber the speech signals, received via an interface (AI, CI), of the N subscribers, and displays to the subscriber the image signals, received from the transceive means, of the M subscribers. By the deliberate selection of an image channel (e.g., B,), or of several image channels, from a multiplicity of image channels, the transmission bandwidth required on the interface (in particular, a radio interface to mobile radio subscribers) for multimedia services can be constructed flexibly, and can be adapted to the existing transmission capacity of the interface. The telecommunication system is provided with apparatus for transmitting the provided speech signals of the N subscribers in N logical speech channels, as well as with apparatus (SFU) for the selection of the M (with M&lE;N) logical image channels, and with apparatus for transmitting the image signals of M subscribers in the M image channels.

The combination point (for example, CP,) at which the two last transmission paths are combined or the single transmission path is divided is selected by a central control means (SCP) in the transmission network, which is informed of all combination points (CP,CP,) at which two redundant transmission paths are respectively combined or a single transmission path is divided, as interworking point (IWP) in the transmission network at which mobile radiotelephone network-specifically encoded information contained in the transmission frame are converted into fixed network-specifically encoded information. Given dynamic change of the number of redundant transmission paths (macro diversity), the interworking point for the conversion of the mobile radiotelephone network-specifically encoded information into fixed network-specifically encoded information can be localized and flexibly determined where a combination point combines the last two transmission paths or, respectively, divides the individual transmission path.
