Laser supply unit for at least one laser device for processing at least one of rod-like articles of the tobacco processing industry and components of rod-like articles of the tobacco processing industry. The unit includes a supply frame structured to receive one or more supply devices for the at least one laser device and at least one of an adapter device structured to position the at least one laser device one of on or in the supply frame, at least one laser device structured to be positionable in operative connection with an adapter device of a machine of the tobacco processing industry. The at least one laser device is positionable in co-operation with the adapter device of the supply frame one of on or in the supply frame.

Machine for the tobacco processing industry, in particular, a filter tipping machine

The invention relates to a method of and to an apparatus for perforating the tubular wrappers of plain or filter cigarettes and other rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry. The articles are advanced sideways at the periphery of a rotary drum-shaped carrier which cooperates with a device serving to roll them about their longitudinal axes while the wrappers are being perforated by one or more pulsating beams issuing from one or more lasers and passing through a stationary cylinder lens on their way to the facets of a rotating cylindrical mirror which directs the beam(s) across the axis of the carrier and pivots the beam(s) about such axis on its or their way radially outwardly of the carrier toward a first set of stationary deflecting mirrors. These mirrors deflect the beam(s) in at least substantial parallelism with the axis of the carrier at locations radially outwardly of the latter's periphery toward a second set of deflecting mirrors which, in turn, direct the beam(s) substantially radially toward the axis of the carrier and against spherical lenses which focus the beam(s) upon the wrappers of the articles.

Method of and apparatus for changing the permeability of tubular envelopes of rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry

An apparatus for confining commodities in containers each of which consists of several components. The commodities are advanced along an elongated path past a series of stations where the components of the containers are draped around successive commodities. At least some of the components are provided with characteristic indicia, and a control circuit processes the indicia into information which is encoded upon the finished containers. Such information is decoded, when necessary, to ascertain the genuineness or lack of genuineness of the commodities, for example, the identity of the maker and packer of cigarettes in cigarette packs.
