An absorbent article is provided. The absorbent article includes a liquid pervious film topsheet having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface; a backsheet having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface; an absorbent core having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface, the absorbent core being provided between the topsheet and the backsheet; and a bonding layer having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface. The body facing surface of the bonding layer has a fibrous matrix comprising cellulosic fibers and thermoplastic fibers, and the garment facing surface of the topsheet is directly bonded to the body facing surface of the bonding layer at discrete adhesive-free bond points.

Absorbent article with improved bonding

An absorbent article is provided. The absorbent article includes a liquid pervious film topsheet having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface; a backsheet having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface; an absorbent core having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface, the absorbent core being provided between the topsheet and the backsheet; and a bonding layer having a body facing surface and a garment facing surface. The bonding layer having a basis weight of less than 100 gsm and positioned between the absorbent core and the topsheet, the bonding layer being bonded to the topsheet forming a bond pattern. The bond pattern covering at least about 10% to about 20% of the absorbent article.

Absorbent article having improved bonding

An absorbent article is provided including a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The core defines a wearer facing side oriented towards a wearer when the article is being worn and an opposed garment facing side. The core includes a storage layer that also defines a wearer facing side and an opposed garment facing side. The core further includes a first core wrap sheet covering the wearer facing side of the storage layer, and a second core wrap sheet covering the garment facing side of the storage layer. The first core wrap sheet is joined to the second core wrap sheet along at least one stripe of juncture. The stripe of juncture extends in at least one of the transversal and longitudinal directions.

Sealed core for an absorbent article

The present invention relates to absorbent articles, such as diapers and sanitary napkins, and cores useful for such articles. More specifically, the invention relates to an absorbent article having a longitudinal centerline and a transverse centerline, the absorbent article comprising an absorbent core, the core comprising a storage layer and a wearer facing side oriented towards a wearer when the article is being worn and an opposed garment facing side, the absorbent article further comprising a liquid pervious topsheet on the wearer facing side of the core and a liquid pervious backsheet on the garment facing side of the core, the core further comprising a first core wrap sheet covering the wearer facing side of the storage layer and a second core wrap sheet covering the garment facing side of the storage layer the first core wrap sheet being joined to the second core wrap sheet along at least one transverse stripe of juncture, wherein the stripe of juncture covers a total area and the stripe of juncture provides a bond strength of at least 1 N/cm between the first core wrap sheet and a second core wrap sheet as measured as tensile strength in the longitudinal direction and wherein the stripe of juncture comprises an open area of at least 20% of the total area.

End seal for an absorbent article

An absorbent article includes a backsheet and a sublayer. The sublayer including at least a first acquisition layer and a second acquisition layer. The sublayer includes one or more areas with a plurality of combined holes. The combined holes are formed by holes extending through the first acquisition layer and holes in or extending through the second acquisition layer, or by holes in or extending through the second acquisition layer and indentations in the first acquisition layer. The combined holes have an average smallest dimension of at least 2 mm, and the surface areas of the holes through the first layer, or of the indentations in the first layer, are less than the corresponding surface areas of the holes in or through the second layer.

Absorbent article with sublayer

A diaper or adult incontinence garment including a backsheet and a sublayer. The sublayer may include one or more acquisition layers and one or more regions having a multitude of through or blind holes. The sublayer may isolate feces away from the skin and at the same time provide liquid acquisition. Certain regions of the sublayer may have a total open area of from 10% to 50% of the total surface area of the sublayer. The holes have an average smallest dimension of at least 3 mm. The sublayer has an average caliper of from 2 mm to 6, and an average caliper loss after wetting and under pressure of 0.3 psi of less than 20%.

Absorbent articles with sublayer

An absorbent article having a backsheet, an absorbent core, a topsheet, and a genital coversheet. The topsheet has an opening positioned to allow exuded fecal material to pass therethrough when the article is worn by a wearer. The genital coversheet is positioned across a portion of the aperture and covers the wearer's genitals. A void space is formed between the genital coversheet and the absorbent core and a void space is formed between the topsheet and the absorbent core.

Absorbent article with urine-permeable coversheet

An absorbent article including a backsheet, an absorbent core, a topsheet with apertures, and a sublayer that includes at least one acquisition layer. The sublayer includes a multitude of holes. At least some of the apertures overlap partially at least some of the holes to form combined apertures in an overlap area that has an open area of between 15% and 50%. The absorbent article may provide improved isolation of feces away from the skin of a wearer of the absorbent article and/or improved immobilization of feces received by the absorbent article.

This invention relates to an elasticated materials comprising a stiff carrier material that is satisfactorily elasticated with one or more elastic strands with a low load force, due to the use of a specific bonding pattern, with specific bonding areas. The bonding areas are typically separate bonding areas positioned on separate intervals along the length direction of the carrier material, whereby each bonding area comprises one or more separate bonding zones, extending in the width (X) direction. The invention also relates to absorbent articles comprising this elasticated material and processes for making the elasticated material.
