A wheel rotational-speed sensor for mounting on a vehicle axle, having a sensor housing and a conductor carrier, for example a leadframe, which is arranged in the sensor housing, having a first surface and a second surface facing away from the first surface, wherein a first wheel rotational-speed sensor element for detecting first physical measurement variables is arranged on the first surface of the conductor carrier, and wherein a second wheel rotational-speed sensor element for detecting second physical measurement variables is arranged on the second surface of the conductor carrier. Specifically, the two sensor elements can detect magnetic fields of a magnetic reading track. The sensors can be AMR, GMR or TMR sensors or Hall elements; the two sensors can be structurally identical or of different design.

A sensor including at least one sensor element, at least one signal processing circuit, and at least one housing inside which the sensor element and the signal processing circuit are arranged. The sensor further includes an electronic identification device.

Sensor comprising an integrated identification device

A wheel speed sensor for a motor vehicle can be supplied with an operating voltage by a control device. The control device has a load resistance with a load resistance value. An operating voltage can be at a voltage input by the control device. An electrical circuit is designed to determine a turn-on or a turn-off voltage value according to the load resistance value. An operation control is designed to transfer the wheel speed sensor into a normal operation using the operating voltage, when the turn-on voltage value is exceeded, and to transfer the wheel speed sensor into an emergency operation using the operating voltage, when a turn-off voltage value is not met. In emergency operation only a low constant signal level is emitted.

Wheel speed sensor

A method for transmitting error information of a sensor, in a signal exchanged between the sensor and a master receiver, said signal being designed with a minimum level for supplying electric power to the sensor and carrying measurement data. One disclosed method involves identifying the error in the sensor; switching off a component of the sensor consuming electric power; and transmitting the error information at an error level lying below the minimum level.

Error reporting at a pulse level lying below the power supply level

A method for transmitting a measured value in a data transmission signal, the method including: introduction of the measured value into the data transmission signal; introduction of error information after said measured value into the data transmission signal, from which information it can be deduced whether the measured value contains an error; and introduction of evaluation information which describes the error information into the data transmission signal after the error information, if the measured value contains an error.
