An anesthesia system with an anesthetic evaporator can be operated even in case of a defect, particularly in case of a power outage. The anesthetic evaporator () and a valve arranged upstream of the anesthetic evaporator () are provided, whereby the gas flow through the valve () is conveyed completely or partially through the anesthetic evaporator () or a bypass line () past the anesthetic evaporator () in case of operation in accordance with the regulations, while the gas flow takes place only through the anesthetic evaporator () in case of a defect.

An apparatus for supplying respiratory gas to a patient in which respiratory gas components are metered with great accuracy and sources of error are detected early. The apparatus has metering devices for respiratory gas components which are connected, on the leading side of a mixing chamber volume, to a ring line; a first respiratory gas analyzer on the trailing side of the mixing chamber volume; a second respiratory gas analyzer at a patient connection; a regulating device for the respiratory gas components which controls the delivery of respiratory gas components, as a function of the concentration measured with the second respiratory gas analyzer, in such a way that the difference between a predetermined concentration and a measured concentration at the patient connection is minimized; and means for performing a plausibility comparison between the measured values of the first respiratory gas analyzer and the second respiratory gas analyzer.

Apparatus and method for supplying respiratory gas to a patient in which respiratory gas components are metered with great accuracy

A respiration system is provided, which has the greatest possible flexibility in operation based on a remote control (), which is connected to a respirator () via separate data lines () for display data and operating data. The display data are continuously displayed on both an operating unit () of the respiration system and the remote control (). The operating data can only be entered either via the operating unit () of the respiration system or by the remote control ().

Respiration system

An anesthetic tank () of an anesthetic dispensing unit is used especially for desflurane and has improved reliability of operation by mutually complementing level monitoring devices. The anesthetic tank () is equipped with a level tube () arranged in or on the outer wall with a connection line () into the interior space as well as with an optical level sensor (). The optical axis () of the level sensor () is located at the same level as a mark () on the level tube ().

A device for metering anesthetic is provided such that a new anesthetic is immediately available for the metering when the anesthetic is changed. The metering device has an assembly unit that can be removed from the medical apparatus as a module with a reservoir () for a liquid anesthetic, an intermediate container () arranged downstream of the reservoir (), a metering gas source () connected to the intermediate container () and a metering element () for anesthetic on the discharge side of the intermediate container (). An evaporator chamber () may be provided for evaporating the metered anesthetic. A connecting device lets through at least anesthetic vapor as an interface between the assembly unit () and the medical apparatus ().

Metering device for anesthetics

A respirator with a breathing gas delivery unit having a variable delivery volume, with a breathing circuit having an inspiration branch and an expiration branch, and with a feed line for breathing gas. The feed line opens into the breathing circuit and is connected to a metering unit. Especially good mixing is achieved within the breathing circuit for high and low flow rates to be metered into the breathing circuit. The feed line has a branching point with a branch line, and the lines are connected to the inspiration branch and to the expiration branch such that the feeding in of breathing gas into the inspiration branch and/or into the expiration branch is made possible.
