A device for mass transfer between blood and at least one gas/gas mixture, includes first and second chambers through which blood is able to flow and in each of which a respective plurality of mass-permeable hollow fibers are disposed around a respective axially extending core element, wherein a gas/gas mixture is able to flow through, and blood is able to flow around, the hollow fibers, wherein the second chamber follows the first chamber in the blood flow direction, wherein the first and second chambers are disposed next to one another, and in particular disposed spaced apart between the core element center axes thereof, and the two chambers have a connection in an axial end region by which the chamber volumes through which blood is able to flow are connected, and in particular are connected in the direction of the spacing.

A system for the extracorporeal elimination of carbon monoxide, includes at least one pump and a gas exchange chamber, wherein the at least one pump can be connected to the blood circulatory system of a person by way of a first tube section connectable to a cannula and is connected to a gas exchange chamber via a second tube section, wherein the system is configured to transfer blood, via the first tube section, from the blood circulatory system of the person by way of at least one pump into the gas exchange chamber, and to return the blood from the gas exchange chamber to the blood circulatory system of the person via the same first tube section.

System for the extracorporeal elimination of carbon monoxide

The invention relates to a method for producing a device for a mass transfer between two fluids, wherein at least one hollow-fiber mat () is wound on an at least partly hollow core assembly (), and the formed coil is inserted into a housing (). The assembly of the housing () and the coil is then sealed (), in particular potted, with a sealant at the opposing axial ends in the regions between the hollow-fiber ends and the housing. The core assembly () is made of at least two axially adjacent core parts () arranged one behind the other, at least one () of which has a hollow design, and the core parts () are kept in specified axial positions relative to each other, in particular at a distance to each other, by means of at least one aid element () at least over the period of the sealing process and preferably over the period of the winding process as well. After the sealing process and the removal of the at least one aid element (), at least the axially end-face core parts () are kept in their relative positions to each other by means of the sealant. The invention also relates to a coil, a core assembly, and a core system.

Fiber membrane tube for mass transfer between fluids and method of and core winder for making same

A device for mass transfer between blood and a transfer medium, in particular a gas/gas mixture, includes a chamber through which blood can flow and in which a plurality of mass-permeable hollow fibers of at least one hollow fiber mat, in which the hollow fibers are held at a spacing by way of warp threads, are disposed in the form of a wound or folded hollow fiber package, wherein a transfer medium is able to flow through, and blood is able to flow around, the hollow fibers, and wherein the density of hollow fibers varies locally in the hollow fiber package in the cross-section perpendicular to length of the hollow fibers. Hollow fiber packages and methods of manufacturing thereof are provided in which the hollow fibers are held at a spacing by warp threads, in which the spacing between adjoining hollow fibers is locally increased, in particular compared to a predominantly equidistant spacing between the hollow fibers.

The invention relates to an apparatus for exchanging material between blood and a gas/gas mixture, comprising a chamber () through which blood can flow and in which a plurality of material-permeable fiber tubes is provided, the gas/gas mixture being flowable through the fiber tubes, blood being flowable around the fiber tubes. At least one deformable element () is provided in the chamber () in addition to the fiber tubes, through which the gas/gas mixture can flow, this deformable element being deformable and restorable, in particular compressible out of a relaxed shape and restorable to a relaxed shape by pressure fluctuations acting on the at least one element () externally, in particular pressure fluctuations transmitted by the blood in the chamber ().

An oxygenator module for gas exchange between blood and a gas in an extracorporeal lung support system, with several layers of semipermeable, gas-perfusable hollow fibers, wherein the hollow fibers of one of the layers are oriented at an angle of rotation about a central longitudinal axis of the oxygenator module with respect to the hollow fibers of another one of the layers, and with a potting which extends along the central longitudinal axis and in which the hollow fibers are fixed, wherein the potting defines a cavity that extends along the central longitudinal axis and in which the hollow fibers are arranged and which is blood-perfusable in the direction of the central longitudinal axis, wherein the potting has an essentially circular inner sheath surface that limits the cavity radially outward; as well as a method for producing the oxygenator module.
