A circuit arrangement for switching an electrical load comprising an electrical switching element with a control input and an output; a control unit connected to the control input to drive the electrical switching element, in a first switching state, to generate a first output signal forming a switch-on signal for the load and, in a second switching state, to generate a second output signal, smaller than the first output signal, forming a switch-off signal for the electrical load; a safety output connected electrically to the electrical switching element output and to which the electrical load is connected; a decoupling apparatus arranged between the electrical switching element output and the safety output; a first output signal detecting apparatus connected to the electrical switching element output; and a second output signal detecting apparatus arranged in a circuit path between the decoupling apparatus and the safety output.

Circuit arrangement for switching an electrical load and method for checking a status of a safety output of a circuit arrangement

A user program for a safety controller is created by means of a program editor. The user program has a first program portion and at least one additional program portion. The first program portion defines safety-related logical dependencies between selected sensor signals and actuator signals. The user program is compiled and linked, in order to obtain an executable original program code. The original program code is transferred to a first memory of the safety controller and executed by a processor of the safety controller. The first program portion may be modified and compiled in order to obtain a modified first code portion. The modified first code portion is transferred to a second memory of the safety controller while the original program code is executed. The modified first code portion is then executed in addition to the original additional code portion and instead of the original first code portion.

Method for programming a safety controller

A new method and to a new programming tool for creating a user program for a safety controller is disclosed. The new method and programming tool exploit a matrix-type organization of occurring programming tasks. Itemized software components allocated to specific hardware components are combined with aspect blocks that enable programming grouped according to functional control aspects of the system to be controlled.

A safety switching apparatus for failsafe disconnection of an electrical load has a first and a second connecting terminal for connecting a first signaling switch and a third and a fourth connecting terminal for connecting a second signaling switch. It also has a first and a second output switching element, which are designed to produce a redundant output switching signal. The first connecting terminal is connected to a first potential and the third connecting terminal is connected to a second potential. The potentials differ from one another. In addition, the second connecting terminal is coupled to the first switching element in such a way that the first switching element receives the first potential via the first signaling switch. Likewise, the fourth connecting terminal is coupled to the second switching element in such a way that the second switching element receives the second potential via the second signaling switch. According to one aspect of the invention, a circuit arrangement is provided for determining at least one further potential at the second and/or fourth connecting terminal, and said circuit arrangement is designed to control the redundant output switching signal as a function of the further potential.
