A global navigation satellite system (GNSS) antenna alignment device may have two movably attached arms to a main housing of the antenna alignment device. Each arm may have a GNSS antenna mounted thereon. The baseline between the GNSS antennas is therefore tri-segmented, with a first arm forming a first segment, a second arm forming a second segment, and the main housing forming a third segment. The length and orientation of the baseline may be adjusted by moving one or more of the first arm and the second arm. Furthermore, the first arm and the second arm may be stowed for a convenient storage and transport.

An antenna alignment device includes an embedded (or is connected to) direct current (DC) voltmeter. In addition to using different sensors for azimuth and tilt alignment of an antenna, the DC voltmeter may be used to measure the DC voltage indicative of received signal strength at the antenna. The received signal may have a transmission pattern generated by a far side antenna. Particularly, the DC voltmeter may be used to detect peaks in the DC voltage and count the number of detected peaks as the antenna is moved changing its azimuth and the tilt. An odd number of peaks indicates the boresight of the antenna is in the main lobe of the transmission pattern, and an even number of peaks indicates otherwise. The highest peak in the odd number of peaks corresponds to the main lobe and the boresight of the antenna is aligned/tuned toward the highest peak.

An antenna alignment apparatus may include magnetic field sensors as an alternative to or in addition to GNSS sensors. The magnetic field sensors may measure the earth's magnetic fields at corresponding locations, and a processor may use the measurements to calculate at least one of a roll, tilt, or azimuth of an antenna. For an optical alignment, the antenna alignment apparatus may, additionally or alternately, include a reference object (e.g., a printed mark or a physical stud) located within a field of view of a camera. A location of the reference object may indicate the alignment of the antenna vis-à-vis the structures within the field of view.

In an example mounting bracket for an antenna alignment device, a bracket component that abuts an antenna is provided. The bracket component has a relatively large surface area for a wider distribution of the applied clamping force, thereby minimizing high-pressure regions. Generally, the bracket component is made of a first piece and a second piece. The first piece is made of soft material such as e.g., rubber that abuts and grips an exterior surface of the antenna, thereby minimizing the slippage problem when the antenna surface is wet and or mossy. The second piece is made of rigid material such as metal or a metal alloy (e.g., an aluminum alloy) to maintain the structural integrity of the bracket component.

In some examples, signal leakage monitoring based quality control may include measuring, by a signal leakage level detector, for a signal leak at a specified location, a signal leakage level. The signal leak may include a status of being open. A geo-location value and a time value associated with the measurement of the signal leakage level may be assigned to the signal leakage level. A signal leakage closure quality analyzer may transmit the signal leakage level, the geo-location value, and the time value to a signal leakage analyzer. Further, the signal leakage closure quality analyzer may receive, from the signal leakage analyzer and based on an analysis of the signal leakage level, the geo-location value, and the time value by the signal leakage analyzer, an indication that the status of the signal leak is changed from being open to closed, or the status of the signal leak remains open.

An antenna alignment device may include multiple GNSS antennas, locations and or relative orientations of which may be detected using magnetometers. The GNSS antennas may be mounted on moveable arms (e.g., at far ends of the moveable arms). Multiple magnetometers may be provided at the base of each of the moveable arms. The magnetometers may detect positions of embedded metallic objects at the bases of the corresponding moveable arms thereby determining a position of the moveable arms and the GNSS antennas mounted thereon. A processor may use the detected positions of the GNSS antennas for calculating, among other things, the azimuth of an external antenna to which the antenna alignment device is attached.

An example mount may include a strap (or any other type of clamping mechanism) engaging with an external surface of an antenna. The strap may be connected to a strap base with a canted wall also engaging with the external surface of the antenna. The engagement of the canted wall may be through an abutment of the canted wall against the corresponding external surface of the antenna at a single point or along a single line. Because the entirety of the canted wall does not have to be flush with the corresponding external surface of the antenna, the mount can couple to any kind of antenna form factor, such as curved antennas and antennas with imperfections and protrusions.
