A wireless device may use a 5 GHz frequency band to support both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The 5 GHz frequency band may be divided into two portions (e.g., high sub-band and low sub-band). A Wi-Fi module of the wireless device may perform a roam scan on a first sub-band to determine attempt to find a candidate channel that meets a target criteria. When the candidate channel that meets the target criteria is found on the first sub-band, the Wi-Fi module may join the candidate channel. If no acceptable candidate channel is found, the wireless device may perform a band switch protocol to allow the Wi-Fi module to preform a roam scan on a second sub-band.

Some embodiments include an apparatus and method for a mobile access point (AP) station that operates in an always-on soft AP mode where a station is associated with the mobile AP station, and switch back to operate as a station in an infrastructure mode with an AP. For example, in an always-on soft AP mode, the mobile AP station may implement a target wake time (TWT) responder power save mode feature. The mobile AP station may maintain a wake window after a beacon to enable unassociated devices to associate; establish a broadcast TWT schedule for unassociated TWT-capable devices to associate; schedule TWT for associated devices; go to sleep outside of the scheduled TWT of the associated devices; and switch back to infrastructure mode to perform as a station and maintain a connection with an AP.

Apparatus, method, and medium for mobile access point station

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to reducing power consumption of an electronic device scanning for wireless communication signals while maintaining or even improving an efficiency of the scanning operations. To do so, the electronic device may include more than one scan core, such as a main core and a receiving core. The receiving core may have limited functionality compared to the main core. For example, the receiving core may only receive wireless signals (including scanning for wireless signals). That is, the receiving core may not support certain operations that consume relative high power that are supported by the main core, such as transmission of signals. In this way, operation of the receiving core, either in place of or in addition to the main core, may reduce power consumption of the electronic device by avoiding high power consuming operations, such as data transmission, while scanning for various signals.

Power management for signal scanning

Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer-readable medium to perform operations in a wireless device that includes a first radio that operates according to a first wireless protocol and a second radio that operates according to a second wireless protocol. The operations include determining that the first radio has received a grant to an antenna of the wireless device, where the wireless device further includes a secondary radio configured to perform actions according to the first and second wireless protocols. The operations also include selecting the first radio or the secondary radio to perform an action according to the first wireless protocol. Further, the operations include instructing the selected one of the first radio and the secondary radio to perform the action, thereby avoiding conflict between the primary radio and the secondary radio.

Radio coordination in wireless communication systems

Methods, systems, and apparatus are presented for providing enhanced scheduling requests, e.g., in an IEEE 802.11 network. A client station (STA) may determine one or more minimum quality of service (QoS) metrics for supporting an application being implemented by the STA, and may determine minimum scheduling parameters to be implemented by an access point (AP) to achieve the minimum QoS. The STA may transmit to the AP a specific scheduling request indicating the minimum scheduling parameters. In response, the AP may schedule communication resources for the STA in accordance with the minimum scheduling resources.

Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for implementing a target wake time (TWT) scheme that includes traffic differentiation and service period extension. For example some embodiments relate to an electronic device including a transceiver and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The one or more processors receive an indication of traffic associated with an application. The one or more processors determine information associated with the traffic and configure the TWT scheme associated with the traffic based at least in part on the determined information. The one or more processors further communicate initial information associated with the TWT scheme to an access point of a wireless network. The initial information associated with the TWT scheme can include at least one of traffic direction information, traffic pattern information, a traffic identifier (TID), or an access category, indication (ACID).

Target wake time traffic differentiation and service period extension

Some embodiments include an apparatus and method for enabling concurrent peer-to-peer (P2P) communications via a scheduled resource unit (RU) allocated by an access point (AP). For example, the AP may use a trigger frame to schedule uplink (UL) multi-user (MU) access for a first station of a plurality of stations by allocating an RU to the first station. Instead of using the allocated RU for UL infrastructure communications with the AP, the first station may utilize the allocated RU for a P2P communications with a second station. In some embodiments the AP facilitates RU utilization for P2P communications between stations. In some embodiments, the first station uses the allocated RU and the AP may be unaware of the P2P communications.

Apparatus and method for scheduled uplink multi-user access with concurrent peer-to-peer communications

Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing techniques for a first wireless device to select a channel to a second wireless device among a set of channels to the second wireless device shared by a set of wireless devices of the wireless network, and further transmit data to the second wireless device over the selected channel. The first wireless device can perform a measurement to determine a channel occupancy during a measurement period for a channel, wherein the measurement period includes a plurality of periodic transmission durations. The first wireless device can select a channel that is less occupied indicated by the channel occupancy of the channel. The first wireless device can further transmit data to the second wireless device over the selected channel in a transmission period after the measurement period.

Selection of a shared channel based on a channel occupancy measurement

An interface circuit in an electronic device may contend for access to a shared communication channel on behalf of the electronic device and a recipient electronic device, where the access has a duration. Then, the electronic device may provide a schedule frame intended for the recipient electronic device that includes information that specifies one or more time slots during the duration that are associated with the recipient electronic device and one or more communication functions of the recipient electronic device in the one or more time slots. Moreover, the electronic device may provide a data frame with data intended for the recipient electronic device. In response, the electronic device may receive a response frame associated with the recipient electronic device, where the response frame is received during at least one of the one or more time slots.

Low-latency Wi-Fi MAC-layer protocol

An interface circuit in a recipient electronic device (such as a cellular telephone) may provide preference-indication information for an electronic device (such as an access point). Notably, the recipient electronic device may compute preference-indication information associated with the recipient electronic device, where the preference-indication information indicates whether the recipient electronic device prefers that the electronic device use downlink (DL) multi-user (MU) MIMO transmissions when communicating with the recipient electronic device. Then, the recipient electronic device may provide the preference-indication information in a packet or a frame associated with the electronic device. In some embodiments, the recipient electronic device determines a trigger event (such as measuring a motion indication), and the computing may be selectively performed based at least in part on the trigger event. Moreover, the preference-indication information may include additional information that was used by the recipient electronic device to compute the preference indication of the recipient electronic device.

An interface circuit in an electronic device (such as an access point) may request a channel status in order to specify a subset of one or more frequency sub-bands. During operation, the interface circuit may provide at least a frame to the recipient electronic device, where the frame requests the channel status for the one or more frequency sub-bands. Then, the electronic device may receive one or more measurement results from the recipient electronic device that specify the subset of the one or more frequency sub-bands (such as one or more RUs) that are not to be used when communicating with the recipient electronic device.

Apparatus, method, and medium for implementing a target wake time

An interface circuit in an electronic device (such as an access point) may provide a wake-up beacon to a recipient electronic device. During operation, the interface circuit may provide a wake-up beacon associated with a predefined sub-channel in one or more channels in a band of frequencies, where the wake-up beacon is for a wake-up radio in the recipient electronic device. Moreover, the wake-up beacon may be provided within an associated time interval, such as a keep-alive interval of the electronic device. In some embodiments, the wake-up beacon includes a field with channel information that specifies one or more second channels used by a main radio in the recipient electronic device. Alternatively or additionally, the wake-up beacon may include a field with service information that specifies one or more types of services and/or a field with information specifying a transmit power of the interface circuit.

Efficient scan and service discovery

An interface circuit in an electronic device (such as an access point) may utilize a configurable wake-up-frame format. During operation, the interface circuit may receive a wake-up-radio (WUR)-setup request associated with a recipient electronic device, where the WUR-setup request specifies a proposed configurable wake-up-frame format. In response, the electronic device may determine the configurable wake-up-frame format to be used based at least in part on the proposed configurable wake-up-frame format. Then, the interface circuit may provide a WUR-setup response intended for the recipient electronic device, where the WUR-setup response specifies the configurable wake-up-frame format selected for use. Note that the configurable wake-up-frame format may specify a payload length in a wake-up frame and/or one or more operations of at least one of the recipient electronic device or the electronic device after the wake-up frame is transmitted by the electronic device.

In one embodiment, a controller determines one or more objects of a computer application to track, and instructs a monitoring system to track object state changes for the one or more objects during runtime of the computer application. As such, the controller then receives object state change information for the one or more objects tracked by the monitoring system, in addition to receiving application performance metrics related to the computer application during runtime from the monitoring system. The controller may then determine one or more application performance metric change events based on the received application performance metrics. According to the techniques herein, the controller may then correlate one or more particular object state changes of the object state change information with one or more correspondingly affected application performance metric change events, and may perform one or more reactive actions based on the correlating.
