An event based integrated driver system for an end-use power based application is disclosed. The driver system includes an analog module for operating analog input and analog output, a digital module for operating digital input and digital output, a software module for operating software input and software output, an event based module to receive the analog output, digital output or software output, and configured to generate one or more events corresponding to the analog output, digital output and software output respectively, a firmware module configured to generate a response for the one or more events and transmit the response via the event based module to operate at least one of the analog module, digital module, or software module, where the firmware module comprises instructions for operating the analog module, the digital module and the software module based on the end-use power based application.

Event based integrated driver system and light emitting diode (LED) driver system

The present invention discloses system and method to regulate primary side current using an event driven architecture in LED circuit. The system () performs a primary side regulation (PSR) of isolated or non-isolated LED driver topology such as fly back system. The primary side peak voltage or current is regulated to achieve desired secondary side currents without the need of additional external components. The architecture combines firmware and hardware to realize PSR. The method () effectively combines input wave shaping (Active PFC), dimming and PSR to achieve accurate secondary side currents. The method () corrects the Peak Regulation Voltage or current (PRV) of primary loop to meet desired half cycle reference voltage or current, which in turn achieves the desired secondary loop current in LED circuit.

System and method to regulate primary side current using an event driven architecture in LED circuit

The present invention discloses a system and method for active power factor correction and current regulation in led circuit. The system () used in the LED driver circuit performs active PFC and current regulation through the dynamic input current wave shaping by limiting peak currents. The dynamic waveshaping scheme is realized through hardware and firmware and is used to strike an optimal balance between current accuracy, Power factor, THD and peak inductor currents. The system () is versatile enough to improve PF and current accuracy in LED circuits and indimmers circuits.

System and method for active power factor correction and current regulation in LED circuit

A dimmer circuit () and a dimming method for an event based integrated driver system for a light emitting diode lighting application is disclosed. Dimmer circuit () includes a front end module for receiving an external dimming input in an analog domain, a digital domain or software domain and for operating a dimming output; an event generator for generating a plurality of events in a prioritized manner to trigger a respective response through front end module; and a firmware module configured for storing instructions for processing the plurality of events in the prioritized manner and for processing each response to implement a functionality in dimming output, where front end module, event generator and firmware module communicate with each other to generate dimming output of the one or more LEDs, and the dimming output has at least one of a linear profile, a non linear profile, a custom profile or combinations thereof.

Light emitting diode (LED) dimmer circuit and dimming method for LEDs

According to an example embodiment of the present disclosure, a method is provided for controlling a light-emitting-diode (LED) circuit. The method includes receiving a direct current to direct current (DC-to-DC) control signal at a DC-to-DC converter. A DC voltage is generated from an input DC voltage source. The DC voltage has a voltage level that is set according to the DC-to-DC control signal. The DC voltage is provided to an LED circuit output. The DC voltage level from the DC-to-DC converter is determined. The DC-to-DC converter control signal is generated in response to the determined DC voltage level. The LED circuit is determined to have a short circuit based upon the determined DC voltage. In response to determining that the LED circuit has a short circuit, the DC-to-DC converter is disabled from providing the DC voltage to the output for powering an LED circuit.

LED short circuit protection

The present disclosure discloses a power converter providing a low output voltage from an offline AC. The power converter defines a voltage window for the input AC signal. Inside the voltage window, the rectified DC waveform is passed through to the output and the storage capacitor; outside the voltage window, the power converter is idle (or the output is blocked from input) and let the output storage capacitor alone supply the load.
