An analog electronic component for control of an aerosol delivery device is provided. The aerosol delivery device includes a heating element, a reservoir that retains aerosol precursor composition, and an analog electronic component that in response to user input, and independent of a digital processor, is configured to direct a constant current to the heating element and thereby cause the heating element to activate and vaporize components of the aerosol precursor composition in response to user input, and a user input interface through which the user input is receivable.

Analog control component for an aerosol delivery device

An aerosol delivery device is provided that comprises a control body and an aerosol source member. The aerosol delivery device includes a resonant transformer comprising a resonant transmitter and a resonant receiver. The aerosol source member includes an inhalable substance medium at least a portion of which is positioned proximate the resonant transmitter. The resonant transmitter is configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field and induce an alternating voltage in the resonant receiver when exposed to the oscillating magnetic field, such that the alternating voltage causes the resonant receiver to generate heat and thereby vaporize components of the inhalable substance medium to produce an aerosol. In some implementations, the resonant receiver comprises part of the control body. In other implementations, the resonant receiver comprises part of the aerosol source member.

Aerosol delivery device having a resonant transmitter

An aerosol delivery device includes a housing enclosing a reservoir retaining an aerosol precursor composition. A first power-source terminal connects a power source to the aerosol delivery device. An atomizer is configured to vaporize components of the aerosol precursor composition. A switch is coupled between the first power-source terminal and the atomizer. A micro pump is arranged between the reservoir and the atomizer to deliver aerosol precursor composition from the reservoir to the atomizer. A driver circuit includes a boost converter coupled between the first power-source terminal and the micro pump, to drive the micro pump. A control component includes processing circuitry configured to switchably control the driver circuit to drive the micro pump, and switchably control the switch to connect the power source to the atomizer independently of the driver circuit and thereby power the atomizer to vaporize components of the aerosol precursor composition.

A sensor circuit is structured to collect at least one use data characteristic of a smoking action. The smoking action is associated with use of at least one of the heating element and battery. A communication interface is structured to communicate the stored at least one use data characteristic of the smoking action to a remote computing device.

An aerosol delivery device is provided that includes a housing structured to retain an aerosol precursor composition, and a sensor configured to produce a measurement of pressure caused by airflow through at least a portion of the housing, and convert the measurement of pressure to a corresponding electrical signal. The aerosol delivery device includes a heating element configured to convert electricity to heat and thereby vaporize components of the aerosol precursor composition. The aerosol delivery device also includes a control component including a processor configured to receive the corresponding electrical signal and in response connect a power source to a load including the heating element and thereby power the heating element. And the aerosol delivery device includes a voltage regulator coupled to and between the sensor and the power source, and configured to step down voltage from the power source to the sensor and thereby power the sensor.

The present disclosure provides aerosol generating substrates and aerosol source members comprising aerosol generating substrates, as well as methods of manufacturing thereof. In an example implementation, an aerosol generating substrate may comprise a fibrous filler material, an aerosol forming material, and a plurality of heat conducting constituents, wherein the substrate is formed as a sheet, and wherein the heat conducting constituents are part of the sheet. The heat conducting constituents may be incorporated within the sheet, or may be formed on a surface of the sheet. In another example implementation, an aerosol source member may comprise a substrate portion formed of a collection of intermingled pieces cut from an aerosol substrate sheet. In addition, or alternatively, a substrate portion may be formed of a series of overlapping layers of an aerosol substrate sheet.

An aerosol delivery device is provided that includes an aerosol precursor composition and a quasi-resonant flyback converter configured to cause components of the aerosol precursor composition to vaporize to produce an aerosol. The quasi-resonant flyback converter includes a transformer including an induction transmitter and an induction receiver, a capacitor that with the induction transmitter forms a tank circuit. The quasi-resonant flyback converter also includes a transistor that is switchable in cycles to cause the induction transmitter to generate an oscillating magnetic field and induce an alternating voltage in the induction receiver when exposed to the oscillating magnetic field, the alternating voltage causing the induction receiver to generate heat and thereby vaporize components of the aerosol precursor composition.

An aerosol delivery device is provided that includes sensor(s) to produce measurements of properties during use of the device, and processing circuitry to record data for a plurality of uses of the device, for each use of which the data includes the measurements of the properties. The processing circuitry is configured to build a machine learning model to predict a target variable, using a machine learning algorithm, at least one feature selected from the properties, and a training set produced from the measurements of the properties. The processing circuitry is configured to then deploy the machine learning model to predict the target variable, and control at least one functional element of the device based thereon. The device may also verify authorization of an attempted user to alter a locked state of the device based on the verifying of the attempted user.

An aerosol delivery device includes at least one housing, a heating element, a sensor, and a microprocessor coupled to the heating element and the sensor. The at least one housing encloses a reservoir configured to retain an aerosol precursor composition. The sensor is configured to produce measurements of differential pressure between an ambient atmospheric pressure and a pressure caused by airflow through at least a portion of the aerosol delivery device. The sensor is also configured to convert the measurements of differential pressure to corresponding electrical signals. The microprocessor is configured to receive the corresponding electrical signals and operate in an active mode only in an instance in which the differential pressure is at least a threshold differential pressure. The microprocessor in the active mode is configured to control the heating element to activate and vaporize components of the aerosol precursor composition.

An aerosol delivery device is provided. The aerosol delivery device includes a power source, a heating element having a resistance that is variable and proportional to a temperature of the heating element, and a power switch coupled to and between the power source and the heating element. The aerosol delivery device also includes processing circuitry and a low-side current-sensing circuit coupled to and between the heating element and the processing circuitry. The low-side current-sensing circuit produces an output voltage that is equal or proportional to an output heater voltage at the heating element. The processing circuitry measures the output voltage, determines the resistance of the heating element, determines the temperature of the heating element from the resistance, and adjusts a signal to the power switch when the temperature deviates from a predetermined set point.

The present disclosure provides aerosol delivery devices. In an example implementation, an aerosol delivery device comprises an aerosol source member that defines an outer surface and an interior area and includes a substrate material having an aerosol precursor composition associated therewith, a control body having a housing that is configured to receive the aerosol source member, an electrical energy source coupled with the housing, and a heating assembly operatively connected to the electrical energy source. The heating assembly includes a plurality of spikes that may be configured to articulate between a retracted position, in which the plurality of spikes is not in contact with the aerosol source member, and a heating position, in which the plurality of spikes pierces through the outer surface of the substrate material and into a portion of the interior area thereof.

In one aspect, an aerosol delivery device may comprise a control body having a closed distal end and an open engaging end, a heating member, a control component located within the control body and configured to control the heating member, a power source located within the control body and configured to provide power to the control component, and a removable aerosol source member that includes a substrate portion. The substrate portion may include a continuous heat conductive framework integrated with an aerosol forming material, wherein the continuous thermally conductive framework is configured to enhance heat transfer from the heating member to the aerosol forming material.
