Disclosed is a lighting strip () comprising an optical waveguide () extending in a length direction of said strip and having a tapered portion tapering from a thin edge () to a thick edge () in a width direction of said strip; at least one solid state lighting element () incorporated in the optical waveguide and arranged to emit light into the optical waveguide in said length direction; and a light scattering pattern () on the thick edge of the tapered portion for redirecting the emitted light to the thin edge of the tapered portion. A lighting system, panel support element () and modular panel system () including such a lighting strip () are also disclosed.
