Examples are disclosed relating to foldable display devices and methods for folding a display device through a range of degrees at a folding portion. In one example, a display device comprises a rear cover and a cover glass layer extending from a left side of the display device through the folding portion to a right side. A light-emitting layer is between the rear cover and the cover glass layer. A backplate is between the rear cover and the light-emitting layer, with the backplate comprising backplate slots that extend from an upper surface through a lower surface to facilitate bending of the backplate.

The disclosure herein describes a display panel that includes a display area and a non-display area. The example display panel includes a flexible substrate, a touch metal layer, and a metal layer between the flexible substrate and the touch metal layer. Each of the display area and the non-display area include the flexible substrate, the touch metal layer, and the metal layer. The metal layer includes signal lines for transmitting signals between the display area and the non-display area. The non-display area includes a bending area with the touch metal layer being disposed on the metal layer in the non-display area to shield noise from signals transmitted through the signal lines in the bending area from the antenna. The display area includes light emitting diodes and a thin film encapsulation layer disposed between the touch metal layer and the metal layer.

Examples are disclosed herein that relate to displaying modification regions on a multi-display device. One example provides a multi-display device comprising a plurality of displays, the multi-display device storing line offset data defining a line offset to apply to a displayed image to correct for display misalignment, and modification region data defining one or more modification regions that each modifies an appearance of the displayed image. The multi-display device is configured to set a displayed location of a first active area based upon the line offset data for a first display, and set a displayed location of a first modification region for the first display based upon the line offset data for the first display.

The description relates to display devices. One example can include a display having an active area surrounded by an inactive deadband. The example can also include a chassis, the display received in the chassis and secured to the chassis beneath the inactive deadband with adhesive. The example can further include a fastening assembly positioned below the inactive deadband and farther beneath the plane than the adhesive, where the fastening assembly creates a retention force between the display and the chassis.

A display includes a display substrate having a patterned edge, the patterned edge including a plurality of notches. The display further includes a plurality of display signal lines supported by the display substrate on a first side of the display substrate, and a display control circuit disposed along a second side of the display substrate, the second side being opposite the first side. The display control circuit includes a plurality of contacts. Each display signal line of the plurality of display signal lines is disposed in a respective notch of the plurality of notches to traverse the patterned edge to establish an electrical connection between each display signal line of the plurality of display signal lines and a respective contact of the plurality of contacts.

The description relates to hinged devices. One example relates to a device that has a first portion and a second portion. The device can include a hinge assembly secured to the first portion and the second portion and a flexible display secured to the first portion and the second portion. The device can include a support member positioned between the hinge assembly and the flexible display. The hinge assembly can be configured to control a length of the device as defined by the first portion, the hinge assembly, and the second portion, based at least in part upon an orientation of the first and second portions, and configured to control a shape of the support member based at least in part upon the orientation of the first and second portions.

Described are examples of display devices including a display panel comprised of a transparent layer, a color filter layer adjacent to the transparent layer, wherein the color filter layer comprises a matrix of colored light filters, and a black matrix layer comprising a base portion disposed on the transparent layer between two of the different colored light filters and an extension portion that extends into the color filter layer between the two colored light filters to block a light path that may otherwise traverse both of the two colored light filters. The base portion and the extension portion differ in a height dimension that is substantially perpendicular to the transparent layer.

Sub-pixel compensation is described. In at least some implementations, a computing device includes a plurality of sub-pixels within a pixel which may generate an alternating display to approximate the display of a single sub-pixel. In other implementations, a voltage is applied to sub-pixels of a color such that a voltage across a first sub-pixel is proportional to a voltage across one or more additional sub-pixels. In other implementations, a change in a voltage drop across a sub-pixel is detected, and the change is compensated for by altering a voltage of a second sub-pixel within the pixel.

The present disclosure provides devices and techniques for dynamically adjusting the bias voltage (V) levels (e.g., low level gate voltage (VGL) and high level gate voltage (VGH)) for display screens made with thin-film transistor (TFT) technology based on a display run time. Thus, as the positive bias temperature stress for the TFTs increases over the course of the display lifetime, features of the present disclosure adjust the bias voltage levels to maintain operation margin (e.g., the ratio between the high level gate voltage (VGH) value and the voltage value which the display can maintain with normal operation). By dynamically adjusting the bias voltage levels, the TFT displays of the present disclosure consume lower power than their conventional counterparts and improve the lifetime of the display itself.

The description relates to hinged devices. One example relates to a device that has hinged first and second portions and a flexible display positioned over the first and second portions. The example can include a cord that determines a length of the hinged first and second portions relative to the flexible display depending on an orientation of the first and second portions. The example can also include a cam that controls a position of a support under the flexible display depending on the orientation.
