A mixer and method for mixing are provided. The mixer includes a housing including a fluid inlet, an additive inlet, and an outlet. The housing defines a mixing chamber in fluid communication with the fluid inlet, the additive inlet, and the outlet. The mixer also includes an impeller disposed in the mixing chamber. When rotated, the impeller pumps fluid through the fluid inlet. The mixer also includes a slinger disposed in the mixing chamber and configured to receive the fluid from the impeller and to receive an additive from the additive inlet. When rotated, the slinger slings the fluid and the additive radially outwards. The mixer further includes a flush line extending between the mixing chamber and the additive inlet. The flush line is receives, from the mixing chamber, a portion of the fluid pumped by the impeller and to deliver the portion of the fluid to the additive inlet.

Mixing apparatus with flush line and method

A mixing unit comprising a frame, a rheology control portion, and a high-volume solids blending portion. The rheology control portion comprises means for receiving a first material from a first transfer mechanism, a dispersing/mixing system connected with the frame, and a first metering system to meter the first material from the first material receiving means to the dispersing/mixing system. The dispersing/mixing system disperses/mixes the metered first material with a fluid to form a first fluid mixture. The high-volume solids blending portion comprises means for receiving a second material from a second transfer mechanism, a solids blending system connected with the frame, and a second metering system to meter the second material from the second material receiving means to the solids blending system. The solids blending system blends the metered second material with the first fluid mixture to form a second fluid mixture.

Integrated process delivery at wellsite

A monitoring system operable to monitor an oilfield additive system having multiple components. The oilfield additive system is operable to transfer an additive-containing substance for injection into a wellbore. The monitoring system includes sensors each associated with, and operable to generate information related to an operational parameter of, a corresponding one of the oilfield additive system components. The monitoring system also includes a monitoring device in communication with the sensors and operable to record the information generated by the sensors to generate a database. The database includes information indicative of maintenance aspects of the oilfield additive system and/or the oilfield additive system components.

Monitoring health of additive systems

A substantially continuous stream of aqueous fluid and a substantially continuous stream of gel having a first concentration are combined to form a substantially continuous stream of gel having a second concentration. The second concentration is substantially lower than the first concentration. The gel having the second concentration may thereafter be utilized in conjunction with a well fracturing operation.

A system for generating variable frequency tube waves includes a high pressure multiplex pump having a number of plungers, with each plunger operatively coupled to a suction valve on a suction side and a discharge valve on a discharge side. The suction valve or the discharge valve of a first one of the plungers includes an opening, such that the modified plunger on a discharge stroke pushes fluid through the opening in the suction or discharge valve. The system includes a tubular fluidly coupling the high pressure multiplex pump to a wellbore, and a pressure sensor that receives tube waves generated by the high pressure multiplex pump and reflected from the wellbore.

Frequency sweeping tubewave sources for liquid filled boreholes

Methods and apparatus are presented herein for detecting an oilfield equipment unit of an oilfield wellsite from a visible image, overlaying the detected oilfield equipment unit of the visible image on a corresponding portion of a thermal image, and generating an alert when a temperature indicated by the corresponding portion of the thermal image is outside of an operational temperature range of the detected oilfield equipment unit. The methods and apparatus presented herein facilitate the monitoring of the health of oilfield equipment units that would otherwise be monitored by numerous sensors disposed about the oilfield wellsite.

Image-based wellsite equipment health monitoring

A system and methodology facilitates the handling of oilfield materials in a space efficient manner. The oilfield materials are delivered without blowers to at least one modular silo. Each modular silo comprises an outer housing defining an enclosed interior. A vertical conveyor is positioned within the enclosed interior and is used to lift the oilfield material from a silo inlet to an upper portion of the modular silo without utilizing airflow to carry the oilfield materials. Once the oilfield materials are disposed within the upright modular silo, the outflow of oilfield materials through a silo outlet may be controlled so as to selectively release the desired amount of material into a blender or other suitable equipment.

System and method for delivery of oilfield materials

A system and method for determining a health condition of wellsite equipment is presented herein. The method includes thermally analyzing at least a portion of one of the wellsite equipment units with a thermal imaging device capable of detecting infrared light to determine a temperature of the analyzed portion of the wellsite equipment unit. The temperature of the analyzed portion of the wellsite equipment unit may be used to indicate the health condition of the wellsite equipment unit.

Method for determining a health condition of wellsite equipment

A method of preparing a fracturing slurry comprising a concentrated gel and water, the method comprising preparing a concentrated gel from a polymer and water, diluting the concentrated gel with additional water to form a fracturing carrier fluid at a predefined downhole concentration, preparing a fracturing slurry comprising the fracturing carrier fluid, and pumping the fracturing slurry downhole at or below a predefined maximum slurry rate. The fracturing carrier fluid is formed upon allowing the concentrated gel sufficient residence time to at least partially hydrate.

Method for calculating optimum gel concentration and dilution ratio for fracturing applications

Disclosed herein is a method for viscosity measurement of non-Newtonian fluid for in-line measurement and process control. The process involves mixing additives to a base fluid to form the non-Newtonian fluid. The non-Newtonian fluid is fed to an in-line viscosity measurement device to obtain a rheological measurement. The addition of the additives to the base fluid is then adjusted based on the rheological measurement. A system for accomplishing the same is also disclosed.

Viscometer and methods of use thereof

Systems and methods for cooling process equipment are provided. The system includes a process fluid source, and a heat exchanger fluidly coupled with the process equipment and the process fluid source. The heat exchanger is configured to receive a process fluid from the process fluid source and transfer heat from the process equipment to the process fluid. The system also includes a control system fluidly coupled with the heat exchanger. The control system is configured to vary a temperature of the process fluid heated in the heat exchanger. Further, at least a portion of the process fluid heated in the heat exchanger is delivered into a wellbore at a temperature below a boiling point of the process fluid.

A method for monitoring wellsite equipment may include producing a digital image and a thermal image of the wellsite equipment; identifying one or more equipment units in the digital image; overlaying the thermal image on the one or more identified equipment units in the digital image to thermally map the one or more identified equipment units; and analyzing temperature conditions of at least a first identified equipment unit.

Visual and thermal image recognition based PHM technique for wellsite

A technique facilitates removal of heat. The technique involves moving a process fluid through a buffer tank which is combined with a heat exchange system. The heat exchange system includes a conduit carrying a coolant fluid which removes excess heat from a heat source. The conduit is routed to the buffer tank so that the cooler process fluid moving through the buffer tank is able to remove heat from the coolant fluid before it is routed back to the heat source for continued heat removal. In a well application, for example, a heat source, e.g. an electric motor, may be located on a transport vehicle and cooled by the coolant fluid. The heat transferred to the coolant fluid from the heat source is removed by routing the coolant fluid through the conduit associated with the buffer tank. This enables the cooler process fluid in the buffer tank to be used in lowering the temperature of the coolant fluid.
