Network topology information may be determined for a plurality of network devices on a network. System identifier information may then be determined for each of the plurality of network devices on the network. The system identifier information may be a list of network solutions that each network device actually or potentially belongs to. The system may then flag the system identifier information to indicate whether each solution is an actual or a potential solution.

Sub-topology discovery for operating hybrid solutions

Disclosed is a method and system for using a credit-based approach to scheduling workload in a compute environment. The method includes determining server capacity and load of a compute environment and running a first benchmark job to calibrate a resource scheduler. The method includes partitioning, based on the calibration, the compute environment into multiple priority portions (e.g. first portion, second portion etc.) and optionally a reserve portion. Credits are assigned to allocate system capacity or resources per time quanta. The method includes running a benchmark job to calibrate a complexity of supported job types to be run in the compute environment. When a request for capacity is received, the workload is assigned one or more credits and credits are withdrawn from the submitting entity's account for access to the compute environment at a scheduled time.

System and method for scheduling workload based on a credit-based mechanism

A cloud proxy communicates over a public network with a network proxy in a private network. The network proxy communicates with the public network through a firewall. The cloud proxy receives from a requester a request to communicate with a remote device in the private network. The cloud proxy creates first forwarding rules to forward traffic from the requester to the network proxy and from the network proxy to the requester. The cloud proxy sends the request to the network proxy, which causes the network proxy to create second forwarding rules to forward traffic from the network proxy to the remote device and from the remote device to the cloud proxy. A communication tunnel through the firewall device between the cloud proxy and the network proxy is established over which the southbound and northbound traffic is forwarded based on the first forwarding rules and the second forwarding rules.

A context-driven publication option is received over a network at an adaptive publish subscribe broker from a publishing network device. The context driven publication options are presented over the network to a subscribing network device. A publication configured for network management and operations is received at the adaptive publish/subscribe broker. Publications are filtered at the adaptive publish/subscribe broker for the subscribing network device according to the selection of the context-driven subscription.

Techniques are provided herein for enabling a virtual private network (VPN) using a bidirectional, full duplex transport channel configured to send and receive application layer data packets. At a source network device that hosts a VPN client, the VPN client is configured with a bidirectional, full duplex transport channel that is configured to send and receive Open Systems Interconnection application layer data packets. The VPN client is also configured with a virtual network interface that operates to virtually link the VPN client with the transport channel.

Use of virtual network interfaces and a websocket based transport mechanism to realize secure node-to-site and site-to-site virtual private network solutions

Techniques are provided herein for establishing at a network management server a presence on a network. A presence associated with one or more managed devices on the network is detected. An instant messaging (IM) session is established with the one or more managed devices. The IM session forms a virtual chat room for performing a management function on the one or more managed devices, and IM messages are sent that are configured to perform the management function on the one or more managed devices. Techniques are also provided herein for establishing on a network an enriched presence by a network management server that is configured to perform a management function via a presence function of a messaging and presence protocol.

An example embodiment may include an apparatus comprising a message buffer to receive messages from a voice over packet endpoint if impairments in a media stream pass a threshold, and a processor coupled with the message buffer, the processor to determine changes to media characteristics for the voice over packet endpoint in relation to the impairments and to signal the voice over packet endpoints to adjust media characteristics of the media stream in both directions. Another example embodiment may be a method comprising monitoring a voice over packet media stream for impairments, computing Voice over packet quality metrics based on the impairments, sending or receiving the Voice over packet quality metrics to or from a session peer, when a threshold is crossed for the Voice over packet quality metrics, sending an event notification to a central entity, and changing media characteristics of the voice over packet media stream in relation to the impairments as directed by the central entity.

Techniques are provided for sending from a client in a first network device a session initiate message over a first secure network connection that is configured to initiate a communications session with a client in a second network device. The session initiate message is configured to supply connection information for the second network device to establish a second secure network connection with the first network device. A session accept message is received from the client in the second network device over the first secure network connection that is configured to accept the communications session with the client in the first network device. The session accept message is configured to supply connection information for the first network device to establish the second secure network connection with the second network device. The second secure network connection is established between the first network device and the second network device using the connection information.

Establishing internet protocol security sessions using the extensible messaging and presence protocol

A method for detecting and isolating domain specific faults includes comparing a first media quality report for a communication from a first node with a second media quality report for the communication from a second node. The first node comprises an ingress node of a first domain for the communication and the second node comprises an egress node of the first domain for the communication. The method also includes determining that the difference between at least one aspect of the first media quality report and at least one corresponding aspect of the second media quality report exceeds a first threshold. The method further includes, upon determining that the difference exceeds the first threshold, determining a first path between the first node and the second node used by the communication. The method additionally includes isolating at least one source causing the difference between the first media quality report and the second media quality report.

A method for initiating a remote trace route includes establishing a communication session between a first endpoint and a second endpoint. The method also includes detecting at the first endpoint a quality impairment in a communication sent from the second endpoint. In response to detecting the quality impairment, the method includes sending a request from the first endpoint to the second endpoint for the second endpoint to initiate a trace route from the second endpoint to the first endpoint. Upon receiving the request at the second endpoint, the method includes initiating a trace route from the second endpoint to the first endpoint.
