A heat exchanger having a core. A header is on a side of the core, and a tank is brazed to the header. A connector is brazed to an outer surface of the tank. A welding aperture is defined by the tank beneath the connector. A weld at the welding aperture secures the connector to the tank prior to brazing of the connector and the tank together.

A modulator for a sub-cool condenser assembly including a condenser. The modulator includes a plurality of extruded tubes positioned to convey liquid refrigerant towards an outlet of the modulator.

A heat exchanger includes a core, which has a plurality of core fins and a plurality of tubes, and a side plate. The plurality of tubes extend along a first direction. The plurality of core fins are stacked with the plurality of tubes along a second direction, which is perpendicular to the first direction. The side plate is stacked with the core along the second direction. The side plate includes a plurality of plate fins.

A structure for separating condensate formed in a charge-air-cooler of a turbocharged engine system. The structure may include ribs that catch and direct condensate away from the outlet. The structure may also include a deflector and water dam that prevents condensation from exiting the charge-air-cooler outlet. The condensate maybe be collected and simply drained to outside of the vehicle.

Charge air cooler water protection

A connecting block includes a first member having a flow header extending from a sealing surface, a planar end face oppositely directed with respect to the sealing surface, and a perimeter wall angularly oriented with respect to the sealing surface. A second member is slidably received within the perimeter wall of the first member and has a flow member receiving bore axially aligned with the flow header. A bonding zone is created by heating both the first and second members until the planar end face and the planar interior face join together to create a physical connection between the first and second members. A material of the second member is corrosively sacrificial with respect to a material of the first member.

Connecting block

A connection joint brazed to a heat exchanger may employ a first block and a second block. The first block may have two fluid passages that align with two fluid passages of the second block. A first male insert may reside within a first fluid passage of each of the first block and the second block and a second male insert may reside within a second fluid passage of each block. Each of the male inserts may employ a first seal and a second seal with a raised boss region midway between the seals. The raised boss portion lies at the mated flats of the juncture of the first and second blocks, which are chamfered to permit part of the boss to locate in each of the chamfers. The seals may be o-rings, or they may be molded onto an insert base using an over molding or double shot manufacturing process.

Pipe joint design

A connection block employs a support block with two parallel through holes that pass through parallel first and second flat block surfaces. First and second insert pipes have elongate portions and flanges. The elongate portions press-fit into the connection block and the flanges, not at pipe ends, abut against the first flat surface of the connection block when the pipes are installed. Upon installation, the ends the elongate portions of the pipes are formed into a flange by flattening the end against the second connection block surface. The junctures of the elongate portions and the first flanges form a flange radius that contacts a radius of the support block when the pipes are installed into the block. The elongate portions residing within the first and second through holes make a full contact fit against the inside diameters of the through holes. The flanges are perpendicular to the elongate portions.

A vehicle heating system employs a vehicle rearview mirror outer case that defines a cavity within which a mirror resides. A vehicle rearview mirror inner case may define a cavity and the rearview mirror inner case may reside within the rearview mirror outer case. A mirror surface or mirror structure, such as glass or plastic, may reside against the rearview mirror inner case to enclose the inner case, with the exception of air inlet and outlet tubes. A rearview mirror inlet tube may pass through the outer case and the inner case and permit air to enter the rearview mirror inner case. A rearview mirror outlet tube that passes through the outer case and the inner case may permit air to exit the rearview mirror inner case. An HVAC unit attaches to the rearview mirror inlet tube to blow air into the rearview mirror outer case or inner case.
