Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a central management plane (CMP) of one or more processors for regulating streams of data from each of a number of network nodes of a distributed network. The one or more processors can train and deploy machine learning models across the network nodes, and the CMP can generate policies for each network node. The generated policies specify how a network node is to transmit data to the platform for further training or retraining of the deployed machine learning models. The CMP generates the policies using metric data characterizing each network node and respective streams of input data, and are generated based on a number of objectives, including model output quality of the deployed models, and operational cost to transmit and process streams of data across the distributed network.

Centralized management of distributed data sources

A method for service selection in mobile networks includes receiving from a control plane, a request for a user plane instance. The user plane instance is configured to perform packet processing for a user equipment during a communication session. The method also includes identifying a plurality of user plane instance candidates associated with a base station in communication with the user equipment. The plurality of user plane instance candidates is configurable by the control plane. For each user plane instance candidate, the method includes determining one or more selection parameters corresponding to a subset of key performance indicators for the base station. The method further includes selecting one of the plurality of user plane instance candidates to fulfill the request for the user plane instance from the control plane based on the one or more selection parameters determined for each of the plurality of user plane instance candidates.

Load balancing and service selection in mobile networks

Systems and methods for maintaining a user session during an access network handover are provided. The method can include establishing, between a user equipment and an access network, a first connection over a first access network, and a second connection over a second access network such that the first and second connections exist concurrently. The method can include setting the first connection as an active connection for conveying data packets for stateful user session, and setting the second connection as a standby connection. The method can include exchanging a series of handover messages between the user equipment and the access gateway. The method can include transitioning the active connection to the second connection, and setting the first connection to the standby connection. The method can include continuing, over the second connection, the stateful user session such that a state of the stateful user session is maintained through the transition.

System and method for seamless mobility of user sessions with multi-access connectivity

Internet Connectivity Services provided by mobile wireless stations deployed in drones, balloons, airplanes etc. may be intermittent and in some cases event-driven, such as in response to emergency and natural disasters. In such deployments, end users of wireless devices may not know that Internet connectivity has become available. Even when the wireless device, such as a smartphone, is able to autonomously attach to the network when Internet connectivity becomes available, end users may not realize that their devices have re-connected to the network. The proposed systems and methods relate to providing Internet service availability notification to end users. The proposed systems and methods collect data related to Internet service availability notifications for analytics.

Method and apparatus for internet service availability notification

A method includes receiving one or more data packets from an external network when a user device connects to a first network. The user device is configured for dual connectivity with the first network and a second network. The method also includes transmitting a measurement configuration to a modem of the user device and receiving a measurement report from the modem. When it is feasible for the modem to perform a network change, the method includes transmitting a network change command to the modem. The network change command causes the modem to perform the network switch to connect the user device to the second network.

Mobility in a multi-network wireless system

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for handover of communications between a plurality of radio user equipment and an egressing mobile base station to an ingressing mobile base station. The user equipment are terrestrially located within a geographical service zone (GSZ) having an ingress zone and an egress zone. When an egressing mobile base station enters an egress zone, it initiates a handover to a management node associated with the GSZ. The management node communicates with the ingressing mobile base station, which has entered the ingress zone, to accept the handover of the connections from the egressing base station. The handover is carried out without any disruption of user equipment communications. The management node can also communicate with a flight control node to control one or more flight parameters of the ingressing or egressing base station to facilitate smooth handover.

Smooth handover of active user traffic in mobile radio base stations

A system may provide connectivity service in a multi-tenant network. A first node in the multi-tenant network can receive data packets, each of the data packets identifying one of a plurality of tenant devices. The first node can determine an Internet Protocol (IP) address associated with each of the data packets. The first node can determine a Virtual Local Area Network Identifier (VLAN ID) based on the IP address, the VLAN ID being a unique identifier of a respective one of the tenants. The first node can add the VLAN ID of a corresponding one of the tenants into a header of each of the data packets. The first node can transport the data packets to a second node in the multi-tenant network via a multi-tenant network tunnel protocol.

Connectivity system for multi-tenant access networks

A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes configuring a network element for load balancing based on input provided by a mobile gateway, where the configuring includes selecting an instance of a service flow router control function (SFR-C) at the network element based on an Internet protocol (IP) address assigned to a subscriber. The subscriber flow rules can be provided to a service flow user plane of the network element. The configuring may also include selecting a subscriber service proxy (SSP) based on a particular load balancing criterion, where a forwarding plane of the network element is configured based on the subscriber flow rules, and where a return message is communicated to the SFR-C that includes a particular IP address of the selected SSP.

System and method associated with a service flow router

A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes configuring a network element for subscriber-specific service chaining and traffic steering, where the configuring includes programming a selected service flow router user plane element with a subscriber context corresponding to a subscriber's session at a subscriber termination function. The subscriber context comprises instructions to steer subscriber traffic through a plurality of services in a network environment.

Systems and methods for call localization are provided. The call localization can be provided in a radio access network by detecting a call flow between mobile node such as user equipment (UE) served by the same radio access network device. For example, a gateway can detect a call localization opportunity and the call can be localized with an evolved nodeB (eNB). The method provides for efficient routing, reporting of billing information, lawful monitoring, and mobility if one or both user equipment leave the common eNB.

A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes maintaining geographical information for a plurality of WiFi access points; and managing radio resources for a user equipment (UE) at a network element using the geographical information for the plurality of WiFi access points. In certain vitamins, the managing includes: verifying a cellular network type for the UE; preferentially admitting the UE if the UE is in a particular zone; verifying if the UE belongs to a first group associated with high data consumption; and verifying if a device associated with the UE belongs to a second group associated with high data consumption.

System and method for resource management for operator services and internet

An example method is provided in one example embodiment and includes establishing a mobility context associated with a user equipment that includes a designation of a first radio access network as a primary access network and a second radio access network as a secondary access network. The method further includes defining an initial value for a data count variable representative of a number of consecutive uplink packets associated with the user equipment received over the first radio access network. The method further includes receiving at least one first uplink packet associated with the user equipment from at least one of the first radio access network and the second radio access network, modifying a value of the data count variable when the first uplink packet is received over the second radio access network, setting the value of the data count variable to the initial value of the data count variable when the first uplink packet is received over the first radio access network, and modifying the mobility context if the value of the data count variable is equal to a predetermined value.

System and method for robust multiple access network mobility in a network environment

A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes providing a multi-radio connectivity service to a mobile subscriber, and managing the multi-radio connectivity service for the mobile subscriber. The managing can include: providing admission control; providing privileged subscriber access at a plurality of WiFi access points; providing signaling for quality of service (QoS) equivalence across a WiFi network and a mobile network; and distributing certain traffic based on a policy.
