Systems and techniques are described for improving inspections of autonomous vehicles by utilizing a robotic arm with a modular hub that is configured to receive a plurality of peripherals for inspecting the autonomous vehicle. An example system can use a controller; a robotic arm; and a modular hub coupled to an end of the robotic arm to inspect an autonomous vehicle. The modular hub can include a plurality of ports for receiving a plurality of peripherals. Each port of the plurality of ports can be addressable, and each peripheral can be individually identified and controlled by the controller. In some cases, the system can include multiple modular hubs, with each modular hub configured to receive one or more peripherals for inspecting autonomous vehicles.

A wheelchair securement system for a vehicle is provided, comprising: a first wheelchair restraint comprising a latch configured to grasp an axle of a wheelchair; a second wheelchair restraint comprising a mechanism to securely couple with an adapter on the wheelchair; and a controller configured to select from among one of three selections: a first mode of securing the wheelchair with the first wheelchair restraint alone; a second mode of securing the wheelchair with the second wheelchair restraint alone; and a third mode of securing the wheelchair using both the first wheelchair restraint and the second wheelchair restraint.

Universal wheelchair securement device for wheelchair accessible autonomous vehicles

Sensors coupled to a first vehicle are used to measure sensor measurements. Based on the sensor measurements, the first vehicle identifies a risk to the first vehicle and/or to a second vehicle near the first vehicle, for example based on a distance between the first and second vehicle being unsafely low. The first vehicle generates an alert based on the risk and outputs the alert toward the second vehicle, for example visually through a screen and/or audibly using speakers, to warn an operator of the second vehicle about the risk.

In some aspects, a process of the disclosed technology includes steps for identifying one or more visual reference features on at least one surface of an autonomous vehicle (AV), automatically deploying a ramp to facilitate ingress of a wheelchair, and tracking ingress of the wheelchair based on the one or more visual reference features. Perception supporting hardware features for a wheelchair accessible autonomous vehicle

The subject disclosure relates to techniques for application-based controls of a wheelchair-accessible autonomous vehicle. A process of the disclosed technology can include steps for receiving a request for a wheelchair-accessible autonomous vehicle (WAV) to execute an ingress function, wherein the ingress function includes a deployment of a wheelchair ramp by the WAV, sending an ingress command to the WAV in response to the request, wherein the ingress command comprises instructions cause the WAV to execute the ingress function at a specified pick-up location, and receiving feedback from the WAV, the feedback includes sensor data associated with a wheelchair ramp and status information associated with the ingress function. Machine-readable media and systems are also provided.

Application-based controls for wheelchair-accessible autonomous vehicle

The present technology provides a cargo adapter that can be inserted into a passenger compartment of a mixed-use vehicle that can be anchored to existing anchor points in the vehicle. The cargo adapter can then receive, secure, and support a cargo locker in a way that safely secures the cargo and avoids wear on the interior surfaces of the passenger compartment. The present technology further provides a system for transporting a cargo locker to a vehicle and inserting the cargo adapter and cargo locker into the vehicle quickly and easily.

A safety apparatus may include a tray table coupled to an interior surface of a vehicle via a release mechanism. The safety apparatus may also include a collision detection system communicatively coupled to the release mechanism. The collision detection system is configured to engage with the release mechanism if the tray table is in an open position, and to de-couple the tray table from the interior surface of the vehicle or to break away the tray table from a portion of a tray table structure if a collision is detected with respect to the vehicle.

A process of the disclosed technology can include steps for determining, via at least one system status monitor, that at least one vehicle system of a vehicle is in a suboptimal operating condition, determining that the at least one vehicle system with the suboptimal operating condition is in control of at least one other vehicle system, and disabling automatically the at least one other vehicle system.
