Aspects described herein relate to sending, from a distributed unit (DU), a control signal that is transparent to communications on an uplink data channel and a random access channel, receiving, at the DU, a signal from a radio unit (RU) over resources for the random access channel, and decoding a random access communication from the signal at least in part by applying a phase compensation to the signal.

Techniques for random access communication support using remotely-located nodes in a wireless network

An O-RU may receive a PRACH preamble and a PUSCH within a plurality of symbols of a slot, the PRACH and the PUSCH having different numerology. The O-RU may filter a PUSCH CP for each symbol of the PRACH preamble through a FFT window per symbol of the PRACH preamble, the FFT window extending from the end of the PUSCH CP within a symbol to the end of the symbol, and perform FFT per the FFT window of each symbol of the PRACH preamble. The O-RU may extract I/Q data in frequency domain corresponding to the PRACH preamble, adjust phase shift of the extracted I/Q data to generate the I/Q data of the PRACH preamble accounting for shift of the each FFT window in time domain compared to FFT windows of PRACH CP filtered PRACH preamble and send the I/Q data of the PRACH preamble to an O-DU.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for dynamic configuration of demodulation reference signals (DMRSs). A method that may be performed by a base station (BS) includes receiving one or more uplink signals from at least one user equipment (UE); estimating a Doppler shift associated with the one or more uplink signals; determining a density of reference signals (RSs) within a slot for the at least one UE based, at least in part, on the estimated Doppler shift associated with the one or more uplink signals; and transmitting information to the at least one UE indicating an allocation of RS resources for the UE, wherein the allocation of the RS resources is based on the density of the RSs for the at least one UE.

A network node may decompose a first channel of a first user equipment (UE) to calculate a first set of singular-value decomposition (SVD) values and may decompose a second channel of a second UE to calculate a second set of SVD values. The first SVD values may include a first matrix having left eigenvectors, a second matrix having diagonal eigenvalues, and a third matrix having a first Hermitian of right eigenvectors. The second SVD values may include a fourth matrix having left eigenvectors, a fifth matrix having diagonal eigenvalues, and a sixth matrix having a second Hermitian of right eigenvectors. The network node may communicate using a beamforming weight for a signal-to-leakage ratio (SLR) precoder matrix associated with the first UE and the second UE based on the third matrix and the sixth matrix and not based on the second matrix and the fifth matrix.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A remote unit (RU) of a base station may report, to a distributed unit (DU) of the base station, a message indicating that the RU supports an RU processing capability that is one of a first processing capability or a second processing capability. The first processing capability corresponds to additional physical layer signal processing at the RU than does the second processing capability. The RU may receive one or more uplink signals from a user equipment (UE) or accept one or more downlink signals from the DU, or both and process the one or more signals in accordance with the RU processing capability. The RU may forward the processed uplink signals from the RU to the DU via an application programming interface (API) that supports both the first processing capability and the second processing capability (e.g., a generalized API).

Systems and methodologies are described herein that facilitate reduced complexity network-assisted device positioning in a wireless communication system. As described herein, a mobile device and/or other suitable device can utilize positioning assistance messages received from a location server, a serving network cell, and/or other entities, to assist in position fixing based on reference signals (e.g., positioning reference signals (PRSs)) detected from nearby network cells. Positioning assistance messages as described herein can include, for example, information relating to PRS bandwidths, transmit antenna configurations, and/or other parameters of respective cells from which reference signals are detected by a device during positioning. As further described herein, messaging load can be reduced by providing bandwidth and/or antenna configuration information relative to a given reference cell, such that parameters of non-reference cells that are equivalent to corresponding parameters of the reference cell can be omitted from transmitted positioning assistance data.

A wireless communication terminal that communicates on a plurality of sub-carriers divided into a plurality of frequency bands, wherein each frequency band includes at least one sub-carrier. The terminal measures a channel quality indicator (CQI) for a plurality of frequency bands, identifies a subset of frequency bands for which the channel quality indicator has been measured based on a subset criterion, and transmits a report identifying a subset of frequency bands for which a channel quality indicator has been measured or frequency bands not in the subset. Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate transmitting positioning reference signals (PRS) differently for passive distributed elements. PRSs for passive distributed elements can be transmitted over disparate resources than those utilized for PRSs at a related access point, using different symbol sequences, and/or the like. In this regard, wireless devices can differentiate between PRSs from access points and those from passive distributed elements, which can mitigate confusion for processes involving such RSs, such as position determining. Alternatively, passive distributed elements can refrain from transmitting PRSs, and a corresponding access point can indicate to wireless devices to only determine positioning based on PRSs. Thus, the wireless devices can utilize the PRSs transmitted from the access point (and not other reference signals transmitted from the passive distributed element) to determine a position.

Positioning in the presence of passive distributed elements

Techniques for co-existence on a shared communication medium are disclosed. To foster co-existence, operation of a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) may be cycled between active periods and inactive periods of transmission, on a communication medium shared with a second RAT, in accordance with a Discontinuous Transmission (DTX) communication pattern. One or more cycling parameters of the DTX communication pattern may be set based on a frame structure associated with the first RAT. Transmission may proceed over the communication medium in accordance with the first RAT and the one or more cycling parameters of the DTX communication pattern.

System timing-aware co-existence on a shared communication medium

Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate providing high reuse for transmitting reference signals, such as positioning reference signals (PRS) and cell-specific reference signals (CRS), to improve hearability thereof for applications such as trilateration and/or the like. In particular, PRSs can be transmitted in designated or selected positioning subframes. Resource elements within the positioning subframe can be selected for transmitting the PRSs and can avoid conflict with designated control regions, resource elements used for transmitting cell-specific reference signals, and/or the like. Resource elements for transmitting PRSs can be selected according to a planned or pseudo-random reuse scheme. In addition, a transmit diversity scheme can be applied to the PRSs to minimize impact of introducing the PRSs to legacy devices. Moreover, potions of a subframe not designated for PRS transmission can be utilized for user plane data transmission.

Hearability improvements for reference signals

A method, apparatus are described for a cloud based radio access network (RAN). The method may include transmitting a first message from a base station to a user equipment (UE), determining that a second message from the UE is not received by a media access control (MAC) scheduler within a pre-determined time, delaying re-transmission of the first message or transmission of a third message from the base station to the UE, and scheduling other hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) processes of the UE in intervening sub-frames. The method may include receiving a first message from a UE at a base station, determining that a second message from the base station cannot be constructed within a pre-determined time from delays in receiving assignments from a Cloud, constructing and transmitting the second message to UEs based on assignments received earlier from the Cloud, and suspending an HARQ process associated with other UEs.
