A mesh deployment device is configured to place a surgical mesh on tissue retro muscularly. In particular, the mesh deployment device includes an arm assembly that is transitionable between a retracted configuration, in which, stationary and covering arms are in superposed relation such that the surgical mesh is supported by the supporting arm therebetween, and a deployed configuration, in which, the stationary, covering, and supporting arms are circumferentially spaced apart to support the surgical mesh thereon.

Surgical mesh deployment device

A surgical instrument includes a motor-driven drive shaft, a distal firing rod coupled to a driven element of a surgical end effector, and a clutch mechanism coupled between the drive shaft and the distal firing rod. The clutch mechanism is configured to electrically connect the drive shaft and the distal firing rod upon the distal firing rod experiencing a threshold force. The electrical connection signals a processor that the threshold force has been exceeded.

Hand-held surgical instruments

Access assemblies include an instrument valve housing and a valve assembly disposed within the instrument valve housing. The valve assembly includes a guard assembly, and a seal assembly disposed adjacent the guard assembly. The seal assembly includes a plurality of seal segments defining a substantially hexagonal body. Each seal segment of the plurality of seal segments includes a base portion and a seal portion extending from the base portion. Each base portion including an outer edge formed of three segments. Each seal segment of the plurality of seal segments is disposed relative to an adjacent seal segment of the plurality of seal segments such that two of the three segments of the outer edge of the respective seal segments align with each other. The valve assembly also includes a centering mechanism for biasing the seal assembly and guard assembly towards a center of the cavity of the instrument valve.

Seal assemblies for surgical access assemblies

A specimen retrieval device includes a tubular body defining a longitudinal bore, an inner shaft slidably disposed within the longitudinal bore of the tubular body, and a specimen bag affixed to a support mechanism at the distal portion of the inner shaft. The specimen retrieval device includes a drain tube that passes from within specimen bags and out of the specimen retrieval device that permits passage of fluids out of the specimen bag prior to removal of the device from the body.

A surgical access assembly includes a sleeve assembly, a base member, and a sealing assembly. The sleeve assembly includes a proximal ring, a distal ring, and a sleeve defining a passage therethrough. The base member includes an annular body including a coupling member. The annular body defines an opening in communication with the passage of the sleeve, and a circumferential groove configured to support the proximal ring of the sleeve assembly. The sealing assembly includes an annular frame and a seal dimensioned to cover the opening of the base member in a sealing relation. The coupling member of the base member releasably secures the sealing assembly to the base member. The annular frame of the sealing assembly is configured to be in registration with the annular body of the base member such that the proximal ring is interposed between the base member and the sealing assembly.

Surgical access assembly and method of use therefor

A specimen retrieval device includes a deployment assembly and a specimen retrieval bag supported by the deployment assembly. The deployment assembly includes an insertion tube, a shaft slidably receivable through the insertion, a handle disposed on a proximal end portion of the shaft, and a support assembly disposed on a distal end portion of the shaft. The specimen retrieval bag includes a pouch portion supported by the support assembly, a tail portion extending from the pouch portion and secured to the handle, and a closure cord extending through the pouch portion for cinching the pouch portion.
