This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for transmitting and receiving physical protocol data units (PPDUs) over multiple links. In some aspects, a wireless communication device may determine that first random back off (RBO) for a first channel of a first link has counted down to zero. A wireless communication device may determine, when the first RBO has counted down to zero, that a second RBO for a second channel of a second link has a count down remaining. A wireless communication device may optionally transmit a medium reservation message on the first link reserving a transmission opportunity (TXOP). A wireless communication device may determine whether to wait for the second RBO before transmitting on the first link. A wireless communication device may transmit at least a first PPDU on the first link during the TXOP.

Uplink (UL) aggregation for multi-link operation (MLO)

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for non-simultaneous transmit and receive (STR) station (STA) transmissions using multiple links. In one aspect, a medium synchronization delay timer associated with a second link of the non-STR STA can be initiated in response to completing transmission of the data on the first link to delay triggering of a clear channel assessment (CCA) associated with the second link. Data can be transmitted on the second link in response to expiration of the medium synchronization delay timer. In another aspect, an energy detect (ED) threshold level on a second link may be decreased from a first ED threshold level to a second ED threshold level after transmitting the data on the first link. In a further aspect, a block acknowledgment (BA) frame including a network allocation vector (NAV) synchronization of a second access point may be transmitted to the first link of the station.

Techniques for non-simultaneous transmit and receive station operation during synchronization procedures

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to communication using a data unit that includes a payload with synchronization information. In some aspects, a first apparatus may transmit a data unit that includes at least one synchronization symbol in the payload. A second apparatus that receives the data unit may thereby recover synchronization information from the data unit even if interference at the second apparatus prevents the second apparatus from recovering synchronization information in a preamble of the data unit. In some aspects, the second apparatus may determine, based on information in the at least one synchronization symbol, whether and/or when to conduct a spatial reuse transmission. In some aspects, the second apparatus may determine, based on information in the at least one synchronization symbol, an amount of time to defer transmission.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to providing a mechanism that may be used to flexibly and efficiently signal spatial reuse (SR) and/or transmit opportunity (TXOP) duration information.

Spatial reuse and transmit opportunity duration representation

The present disclosure provides various aspects related to techniques for generating trigger frames, at an AP, that reduce the overhead associated with triggering an uplink transmission from the STA. In some examples, the STA may also calculate its transmit power by decoding a spatial reuse subfield of the trigger frame from the AP and identifying downlink pathloss measurements of the trigger frame. Accordingly, the STA may identify acceptable interference level of the AP and calculate a transmit power in order to minimize interference at the AP. In some aspects, the STA may transmit its uplink packets to a different AP on one or more punctured channels at the calculated transmit power of the STA.

Trigger frame in wireless local area network

To determine a location of a client device in a wireless network having at least first and second network devices, with known locations, one of the network devices transmits a message to the other network device and the other network device responds with an acknowledgement message. A client device receives the message and the acknowledgement message as well as respective times indicating actual times at which the message and the acknowledgement message were processed by one of the first and second network devices. The client device determines its location based on the times at which it received the message and the acknowledgement message and the difference between the actual processing times. This location may be refined by determining an angle between the client device and at least one of the network devices having multiple antennas and being configured for steered beam communications.

Method for determining location of wireless devices

The present disclosure provides various aspects related to techniques for generating trigger frames, at an access point (AP), that reduce the overhead associated with triggering an uplink transmission from the wireless station (STA). Features of the present disclosure achieve this by, for example, utilizing a single per-user information field of the trigger to signal a plurality of random access resource units that may be allocated to the one or more STAs in the network. Such a technique is an improvement over the conventional system that require each random access resource unit to be signaled separately in a separate per-user information field (thus increasing the overhead). Additionally, aspects of the present disclosure allow the AP to effectively signal to the STA whether the one or more resources allocated to the at least one STA are a single user resource unit allocation or a multi-user resource unit allocation.

Method and systems are disclosed for qualifying a wireless device as frequency hopping device. In some aspects, an access point (AP) may determine a frequency hopping pattern for the wireless device, and then allocate a sequence of unique resource units to the wireless device based on the frequency hopping pattern. Each of the unique resource units include a different set of frequency subcarriers. The AP may receive a series of uplink orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) transmissions from the wireless device on the allocated sequence of unique resource units.

An apparatus includes an antenna array including at least a first antenna element and a second antenna element separated by a first distance. The apparatus receives a wireless advertising message, having a known bit pattern, via the first and second antenna elements. The apparatus samples a first portion of the known bit pattern from the wireless advertising message received via the first antenna element, and samples a second portion of the known bit pattern from the wireless advertising message received via the second antenna element, and determines a phase difference between the received wireless advertising message at each of the first and second antenna elements by correlating the first sampled portion and the second sampled portion to the known bit pattern. The apparatus then determines an angle of arrival (AoA) of the wireless advertising message based at least in part on the phase difference and the first difference.

A user equipment (UE) device pointed at an appliance to be controlled, or at an object that is to be accessed or about which information needs to retrieved, determines its position and orientation within an environment with respect to a fixed frame of reference. The appliance to be controlled is identified based on a determined position and orientation of the UE device and a known position of the appliance. The UE device controls the identified appliance by establishing a wireless communication link between the identified appliance and UE device based on a wireless technology that is compliant with both the appliance and the UE device. The UE device may control another appliance via a central control computer server to which the other appliance is interfaced, when the other appliance is not configured for wireless communication.

The present invention relates generally to managing acknowledgements for multicast data in a wireless network. According to certain aspects, embodiments of the invention allow for adopting appropriate acknowledgement mechanisms to address the particular need of different applications, for example in terms of throughput, latency and delay. According to certain other aspects, embodiments of the invention can, depending on link conditions, vary the frequency of the acknowledgements to sinks, vary the application packet size and/or remove sink devices from the multicast group and reach them instead via unicast transmission or via an access point.
