Methods and apparatuses for wireless communication are provided. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may obtain a gain value based on a difference between an reference signal receive power (RSRP) value of a first antenna and an RSRP value of a second antenna, where the first antenna may be located on an exterior of the UE and the second antenna may be located within an interior of the UE. Further, in some aspects, the UE may obtain an antenna gain value based at least on a random access channel (RACH) power value and a reference signal receive quality (RSRQ) offset value. Additionally, in some aspects, the UE may obtain the antenna gain value based on one of a matching entry in a memory log or a minimum of a maximum antenna gain value or an aggregation of a RACH gain value and an RSRQ offset value.

Methods and apparatuses for determining the gain of vehicle antennas

Enhanced techniques may be used for identifying and reporting collision-based scenarios. In one example, a wireless modem measures a number of signals received from a number of devices that are located on the same chip as the wireless modem when a physical link between the wireless modem and an accelerometer is broken, the accelerometer is inoperable, or a combination thereof. In the event of a collision event, the wireless modem may use the measured signals to determine that the collision event has occurred and may transmit an indication of the collision event. For instance, the wireless modem may use signals from an audio sensor, a motion sensor, a global navigation satellite system (GNSS), or the like.

Detection and reporting of a collision event

A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may include memory and at least one processor, coupled to the memory, configured to determine a power parameter associated with communication using a first radio access technology (RAT). The at least one processor may be further configured to determine a quality parameter associated with the communication using the first RAT. The at least one processor may be further configured to apply, based on the quality parameter, an offset to the power parameter to form a modified power parameter. The at least one processor may be further configured to transmit a measurement report including the modified power parameter. The apparatus may be a wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE) and, more specifically, a high gain UE.

Techniques for managing inter-radio access technology handovers for high gain user equipment

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for adaptive antenna switching for measurements, for example, in high gain automotive devices. According to certain aspects, a method is provided herein for wireless communications. The method generally includes selecting, based on one or more conditions, a first measurement configuration that uses at least an external antenna mounted on a surface of a vehicle for one or more measurements or a second measurement configuration that uses at least an internal antenna associated with the vehicle for the one or more measurements; performing the one or more measurements using the selected measurement configuration; and sending a report based on the one or more measurements. The techniques for measurement configuration selection may allow the device to achieve the benefits of both the high gain external antenna and the lower gain internal antenna(s) depending on the current conditions.
