Systems, computer-implemented methods, and instructions encoded in machine-accessible storage media are provided for determining manufacturability of an integrated circuit layout. A computer-implemented method includes receiving a layout describing the integrated circuit to be manufactured by a semiconductor manufacturing process. The method also includes generating a differentiable manufacturability parameter as an output of a machine learning model using the layout, the machine learning model being trained to generate the differentiable manufacturability parameter. The differentiable manufacturability parameter describes the manufacturability of the integrated circuit by the semiconductor manufacturing process.

Solid-state thermoclines with internal baffle structures are in used in place of heat exchangers in a closed thermodynamic cycle power generation or energy storage system, such as a closed Brayton cycle system. The computer-implemented method comprising receiving a description of interconnected terminals of an integrated circuit with a wiring route electrically coupling the interconnected terminals and configuring a simulated environment defined via a plurality of voxels based on the description. The individual voxels included in the plurality of voxels each correspond to a spatial representation for a corresponding region of a layout associated with the integrated circuit. The computer-implemented method further includes determining local contributions of the individual voxels to a characteristic metric of the integrated circuit based on an electromagnetic simulation of the integrated circuit and revising the wiring route based on the local contributions of the individual voxels.

A computer implemented method for generating integrated circuit layouts includes receiving a first layout for an integrated circuit, segmenting the first layout into a plurality of different patches, each patch of the plurality of patches describing a discrete portion of the first layout, identifying a non-compliant patch of the plurality of patches, the non-compliant patch violating a design rule governing the manufacture of the integrated circuit, generating a transformation of the non-compliant patch using a machine learning model, and generating a second layout using the transformation and the first layout, where the second layout is compliant with the design rule.

Baffled thermoclines in thermodynamic generation cycle systems

Systems and methods relating to use of external air for inventory control of a closed thermodynamic cycle system or energy storage system, such as a reversible Brayton cycle system, are disclosed. A method may involve, in a closed cycle system operating in a power generation mode, circulating a working fluid may through a closed cycle fluid path. The closed cycle fluid path may include a high pressure leg and a low pressure leg. The method may further involve in response to a demand for increased power generation, compressing and dehumidifying environmental air. And the method may involve injecting the compressed and dehumidified environmental air into the low pressure leg.

Use of external air for closed cycle inventory control

Extra heat in a closed cycle power generation system, such as a reversible closed Brayton cycle system, may be dissipated between discharge and charge cycles. An extra cooling heat exchanger may be added on the discharge cycle and disposed between a cold side heat exchanger and a compressor inlet. Additionally or alternatively, a cold thermal storage medium passing through the cold side heat exchanger may be allowed to heat up to a higher temperature during the discharge cycle than is needed on input to the charge cycle and the excess heat then dissipated to the atmosphere.

Systems and methods relating to variable pressure turbines are disclosed. A power generation system may include a closed cycle system configured to generate power, a combustor, and a control system. The closed cycle system may include a working fluid circulating in a closed cycle path. The combustor may provide thermal energy to the working fluid. Further, the control system may be configured to determine to increase an amount of power generated by the closed cycle system, and in response to the determination to increase the amount of power generated by the closed cycle system, cause an increase in pressure of the working fluid in the closed cycle path.
