The invention relates to a distribution device () in a data signal processing installation (), and a data signal processing installation (). The distribution device comprises a distribution block () which has a receiving device containing elements to which data signal lines () can be connected, the functional elements having a circuit to distribute signals transmitted by the data signal lines (). The distribution device also comprises a data signal editing unit with active and/or passive electronic components, in which the data signals transmitted from the data signal lines () are edited in a pre-determined manner. The data signal editing unit is integrated into the components of the distribution block ().

A cable sleeve formed of an envelope member with an attached flange against which a seal system composed of an annular seal is pressed with the assistance of a straining ring. The annular seal is composed of an elastomer with a Shore hardness of 40.degree. to 70.degree. and has its encompassing inner region inserted as a channel seal into the seal channel of a seal member.

A terminating element (1) for a central element (9) of an optical cable (13) comprises a sleeve (3) closed at one end for receiving the end of the central element (9) or core of the optical cable (13). An open end of the sleeve (3) is provided with a pair of flexible vanes (2) or legs having seating regions (5,6) which can be clamped onto the exterior of the cable (13) and each of the legs has free ends to help center the end of the cable and the terminating element (1) into a cable introduction (15), whose junction can be sealed by a section of a shrink hose (16) or sleeve (3).

A cable closure for receiving electrical or optical splices has a lower shell and a cover and at least one end face of the lower shell has a fixed part and a removable sealing part. The lead-in openings are formed in a separating plane or line between the fixed part and the sealing element, and the lower shell and cover are connected to each other along one side by a hinge and fastening elements are located on the opposite longitudinal side of the closure. The cable closure includes cable-clamping devices for the cable sheath and clamping devices for central elements of the optical fiber cables.

An intercept mechanism for clamping on a central element includes a clamp element, a sleeve and a retainer element. The clamp element, at one end, has a mounting end connected by an adapter portion to a clamping end which has been bent in a U-shape to receive the end of the central element and is held on the central element by the sleeve. The mounting end can be detachably connected to the retainer element and the retainer element and mounting end can then be fixed to the cable with the assistance of a hose clamp.
