A device for measuring the pressure of a gas mixture composed of gas components has an amperometric sensor that works on the limiting current principle, having two electrodes connected to a direct voltage that are situated on a solid electrolyte, of which one electrode is covered by a diffusion barrier, and a measuring element for measuring the limiting current flowing via electrodes as a measure for the gas pressure. For the purpose of error-free measurement of the gas pressure in a gas mixture in which the concentration of the gas components fluctuates with time, means are provided which fix the mole fraction of a gas component, drawn upon for pressure measurement, that is present upstream of the diffusion barrier at a constant 100%, at least during the pressure measuring phase. In one preferred exemplary embodiment, these means include a storage volume that is adjacent to the diffusion barrier which is separated from the gas mixture by a diffusion path, and two electrodes, situated on the solid electrolyte, for pumping of the gas component into the storage volume.

Device for measuring the pressure in a gas mixture

The invention concerns a procedure to determine a mass of particles or a particle mass flow in an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine, whereby at least one resistive particle sensor is disposed in the exhaust gas system of the internal combustion engine. The measured signal change of the particle sensor is compared with a predicted signal change of the particle sensor ascertained from an engine model. If the measured signal change of the particle sensor and/or the predicted signal change of the particle sensor are corrected while taking into account the influencing variables on the transverse sensitivities of the particle sensor, it is possible when ascertaining the predicted signal change of the particle sensor that a compensation for the transverse sensibilities can result even during dynamic operating point changes of the internal combustion engine, which occur faster than the actuation of the particle sensor. This is the case because the correction can even be implemented for small predicted signal changes, such as those occurring during a currently transpiring operating point of the internal combustion engine. Because the predicted signal changes are ascertained from a set of characteristic curves of the engine model, these measurement intervals capable of being assigned to very short times and for that reason to individual operating points of the internal combustion engine can be determined with the very small predicted signal changes, which are required for this purpose.

Exhaust gas sensor

A sensor for detecting particles in a gas flow, in particular soot particles in an exhaust gas flow, includes at least two measuring electrodes, which are positioned on a substrate made of an insulating material. To protect the measuring electrodes, they are covered by a protective layer.

In a method for monitoring an exhaust gas limiting value of an internal combustion engine using an engine controller, the engine controller has at least one exhaust gas sensor, and an error signal is output when the exhaust gas limiting value is exceeded. If the emissions predicted for the present driving state are ascertained with the aid of an engine model and compared to the signal of the exhaust gas sensor or a comparison value for the emission derived therefrom, the prescribed driving cycle may be taken into account when certifying a limiting value monitoring system and a defective system may be reliably recognized in practical operation even in atypical driving states without resulting in erroneous triggering of error signals.

The gas sensor includes a first measuring gas space which is connected to the measuring gas, and a second measuring gas space which is connected to the first measuring gas space by a connecting channel. Furthermore, a first electrode and a second electrode, arranged in the first measuring gas space, and at least one third electrode arranged in the second measuring gas space, and at least one fourth electrode are provided. Electrochemical gas sensor

A device and a method for detecting ammonia, especially for detecting an NH slip emission in a catalytic converter arrangement, a gas, especially an exhaust gas of a lean-mixture-driven internal combustion engine, being supplied to an SCR catalytic converter via a first gas supply device, and ammonia being supplied via a second gas supply device. The device includes a first arrangement, especially an oxidation catalytic converter, which prior to the supplying of the gas to the SCR catalytic converter, initially at least substantially oxidizes the oxidizable gas components contained in the gas. Emerging gas from the SCR catalytic converter is analyzed by a second arrangement, especially a gas sensor, with respect to the oxidizable components contained in it. The gas sensor may detect oxidizable gas components, including in a non-selective manner, and is connected via a processing unit and a control unit to a dosing system, which regulates the supply of ammonia.

Sensor for analyzing gases

A sensor determines the concentration of gas components in a gas mixture with at least one measuring electrode exposed to the gas mixture and a reference electrode and with a heating device for controlling the temperature of at least one measuring electrode and the reference electrode. A measurement signal taken off the at least one measuring electrode can be changed via a corrective value, which is dependent upon the heating power of the heating device necessary to reach a pregiven value of the heating resistance of at least one heating element of the heating device.
