In an apparatus for singling sheet material, multiple picks are avoided by a retaining device ensuring that sheet material entrained with the sheet to be singled is retained not only on one side but also on the other side of the sheet to be singled. While the first retaining device is located opposite a singling gap of the singling device and is continually effective, the second retaining device acts before, or in, the singling gap from the other side of the singling gap and is only activated after the sheet to be singled is reliably grasped by the singling device, and deactivated when it has left the singling gap.

Apparatus and method for singling sheet material

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for monitoring the singling of sheet material, in particular of bank notes. The invention starts out from monitoring the singling of sheet material, in particular of bank notes, by means of a singler having a drive and a control device for a monitoring and controlling of the singler, wherein a monitoring of place, time, orientation and state of the singled sheet material is effected immediately after the singling.

Method and apparatus for monitoring the singling of sheet material

A friction wheel singler for singling bank notes includes a singler rollerwith grooves, and retaining wheelscooperating with the grooves. The retaining wheelshave friction areasand sliding areassuch that both a sliding areaand a friction areacooperate with each grooveof the singler roller. Such a friction singler is particularly suitable for longitudinal singling of narrow bank notes and prevents skewing of the sheet to be singled during the singling process.

The invention relates to an apparatus for automatic bundling of sheet material, in particular bank notes, having a deposit device on which sheet material to be bundled is deposited as a precisely fitting stack, a sliding device moving the stack of sheets perpendicularly toward a foil supplied by a device whereby the stack is partly wrapped with the foil and supplied to a transport device. The invention is characterized in that the transport device has two parallel, vertically adjustable conveyer belts between which the stack with its partly surrounding foil is clamped and transported to a banding device, said stack being positioned by the conveyer belts such that the foil is guided around the stack by the banding device and connected into a band, thereby obtaining a bundled stack of sheets. Subsequently the bundled packet can be pushed onto a transport belt with the aid of a delivery pocket.
