A body structure of a passenger car comprises a front wall arranged between the forward car section and the passenger compartment, two mutually spaced side rails which are each connected to a floor support which is situated behind and extends as an extension of the side rail, exterior side members, upright hinge pillars and a floor. In order to, on the one hand, provide a stiff passenger compartment and, on the other hand, absorb the forces well which occur in the case of a frontal impact and introduce these forces in a large-surface manner from the forward side rails into the adjoining, partially lower body structure, it is provided that the two lower forward side rails extend continuously to the front wall and are connected to a first cross member fitted on the exterior side onto the front wall, and in that, at the front wall, at the height of the first cross member on the side facing the passenger compartment, a second cross member is arranged which, in the center area of its transverse course, is connected with a tunnel reinforcement fitted onto the transmission tunnel, and which--viewed in the vertical direction--widens in its laterally exterior areas in the downward direction and is divided into two hollow rail sections disposed above on another. The hollow rail section disposed on top is connected to the front wall and the hinge pillar, whereas the lower hollow rail section is connected with the front wall, the side member and the floor.

In a guiding device for a vertically adjustable window pane of vehicle doors, two holding parts, which each have an upper and a lower sliding block and are spaced away from one another, are provided at a lower edge of the window pane, these holding parts being in operative connection with U-profiled tracks of guide rails mounted in the door body. So that, for framelessly guided window panes having a pronounced lateral drop with respect to the door body located underneath, a guiding device is provided which, while it has a simple construction, ensures a functionally appropriate holding of the window pane in all positions, two tracks are constructed at each guide rail. The upper sliding block interacts with the first track, and the lower sliding block interacts with the second track. The tracks of one guide rail and the two sliding blocks of each holding piece are arranged at opposite longitudinal sides of a common connecting web of the guide rail extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

Guiding device for a vertically adjustable window pane

A motor vehicle door lock is equipped for cooperation with a central locking system able to lock all doors of a vehicle from a single control. The lock also has a pull closed mechanism which is driven by the same motor driving the locking elements in response to a signal from the central locking system. The pull closed mechanism cooperates with a fork latch for bringing the fork latch from a preliminary latching position into a main or final latching position, whereby door slamming for properly closing a vehicle door is not necessary. It is now sufficient if the user closes the door so that the fork latch is in its preliminary latching position since the present invention mechanism will then close the vehicle door completely.

Door lock mechanism for a motor vehicle

A control mechanism for a door of a motor vehicle is described that is actuated via an inside and outside handle and comprises a piston-cylinder unit arranged between a door post and the vehicle door. It has a piston provided with passage openings for a pressure medium, the piston interacting with an interior valve that separates two working chambers of the cylinder from one another. The control mechanism is equipped with a blocking valve controlling the medium flow, this blocking valve being arranged in a control circuit connecting the two working chambers of the cylinder, acting against the flow direction. This blocking valve, via a control element at a door handle, can be controlled in such a way that the door is blocked in at least one intermediate position. The cylinder has at least one overflow duct between the two working chambers, the flow-through of which is controlled by the piston of the unit. The duct extends over an area into which the piston dips, up to a door opening angle of about 30.degree., during the initial opening of the door from the closed position. This opens the duct between the working chambers and an unhindered opening of the door becomes possible without an actuating of the door handle.

Adjusting device for a vehicle door

The door system for a motor vehicle comprises essentially a basic frame and an interior and an exterior part of the door. Between these parts, installation aggregates are held at a cross member connected with the basic frame. A first door subassembly comprises a pre-assembled basic body consisting of carriers and column parts (door frame, cross member, hinge column, lock post, upper exterior door part, door shaft carrier); the individual parts of said basic body are connected with one another in a material-locking way. They form a one-piece carrying structure that is open to the interior and exterior side of the door for the mounting of installation aggregates located on the inside (window control mechanism, window). This carrying structure, via a second, detachably fastened subassembly consisting of an interior part of the door and a lower exterior part of the door, is enclosed in an encapsulating way on the exterior side and on the interior side. The interior part of the door consists of a plastic shell that is detachably connected with the lower exterior part of the door that also consists of plastic. The exterior part of the door is constructed to be divided in an approximately horizontal longitudinal plane, the upper exterior part of the door being an integrated undetachable component of the basic body, and the lower exterior part of the door being detachably fastened, via a holding device, at the upper exterior part of the door.

Door system for motor vehicles

A control mechanism for a door of a motor vehicle is suggested that is coupled at a door post on the side of the body so that it can be swung, is actuated via an inside and outside handle and comprises a piston-cylinder unit arranged between the door post and the vehicle door. The unit has a piston provided with passage openings for a pressure medium, the piston interacting with an interior valve that separates two working chamber of the cylinders from one another. The mechanism has an exterior blocking valve controlling the medium flow, this blocking valve being arranged in a control circuit connecting the two working chambers of the cylinder, acting against the flow direction. The blocking valve is controlled by a door handle in such a way that the door can be blocked in at least one intermediate position. The interior valve is held on the piston under the tension of a spring in such a way that when the vehicle door is opened, the passage openings are closed, and when the vehicle door is closed, the passage openings are passable for the medium. The blocking valve is controlled in such a way that, when the door handle is actuated, it takes up a release position, and when the door handle is not actuated, it takes up a closing position in the control circuit.

Control mechanism for a door of a motor vehicle with a reciprocating

A door for a motor vehicle which is provided with an upper outer part having a window cutout and a lower outer part connected with the upper outer part. At least one safety reinforcement constructed as hollow bearer and extending in the vehicle longitudinal direction is arranged in the door. The hollow bearer is connected at each end with the frame structure of the door. The lower door outer part is constructed shell-shaped and formed in one piece with the hollow bearer. At its outer surface, the door outer part is provided with a covering of synthetic resinous material. The hollow bearer has preferably a circularly shaped cross section projecting beyond the lower door outer part and is arranged approximately at the height of the belt line of the vehicle whereby the shell-shaped door outer element extends at least up to this belt line.

Door for a motor vehicle

A reinforcing unit for a longitudinal bearer of a body structure of a passenger motor vehicle which serves for the supported mounting of a transversely arranged auxiliary bearer for the support of a lower wheel guide member, for the fastening of a steering mechanism and for the mounting of drive aggregates or parts of the force transmission. Within the offset area of each longitudinal bearer, a form-rigid body is formed composed of several shell-like shaped elements and closure panels. The form-rigid body is constructed at least partially as box profile and forms together with the U-profile-shaped longitudinal bearer a fixedly connected structural unit with an abutment surface for the fastening of the auxiliary bearer.

A roll bar for vehicles, especially motor vehicles, comprises two vertical segments mounted on opposite sides of the body which are connected together by at least one cross member. Each segment comprises, according to a preferred embodiment, two elements of the same profile which withstand deformations that increase the section modulus, said elements being formed by roll sections assembled to form a hollow member and connected to one another by welding, gluing, or the like. According to a particularly advantageous arrangement, each segment, as viewed in cross section, comprises two tubular structures that are joined to a common rib.

A lining part for the passenger compartment of an automobile comprises a rigid support, a padding, and a thin flexible covering element which is constructed by the padding being created by a foamed layer that has been caused to react between the support and the covering element so as to be joined thereto and present a non-uniform cross sectional development which is adapted to various functions. In a preferred embodiment, tolerance-compensating studs are provided for securing the lining part to a vehicle body member. These studs are applied to the support independently of the foamed layer and are retained within openings of the support that are disposed in depressions that are spaced from the foamed layer for enabling the studs to be laterally shifted within the openings.

A method for surface painting body parts for motor vehicles consisting of synthetic resinous material, in which a first layer consisting of a filler preferably including two components is applied onto the body part and is thereafter baked-in; this first layer is then fine-finished to obtain a smooth surface; thereafter an intermediate filler is applied and baked-in over the first layer, which is then again fine-finished, and finally a cover paint is applied as third layer which is again baked-in.
