A sensor has a detection device and an evaluation device to detect an analog signal, to determine a digital signal and to transmit the digital signal to a control device outside the sensor. The analog signal and/or the digital signal is supplied to a monitoring device of the sensor. An enable signal is transmitted to the control device only if the device being monitored is operating correctly. In a normal mode, the control device processes the digital signal further. Otherwise, it deems the transmitted digital signal to be defective and outputs a message using a malfunction of the sensor. On account of the transmission of the test signal, the sensor assumes a test mode in which it manipulates the signals which are supplied to the monitoring device in such that the monitoring device detects that the device being monitored is not operating correctly. In the test mode, the control device outputs a message using a malfunction of the sensor if the enable signal is transmitted to it in addition to each.

Operating method for a sensor and a control facility communicating with the sensor

The invention relates to a measuring apparatus comprising a sensing head () for determining the position of a primary part () on a secondary part. The sensing head () is fixedly connected to a primary part () or is integrated therein while the primary part () and the secondary part form a linear motor (). Furthermore, the secondary part is embodied as a rack () which is provided at least with ferromagnetic material and preferably equidistant teeth () in a preferred direction (), said teeth () containing at least ferromagnetic material. The sensing head () can be moved in the preferred direction () and opposite thereto. An air gap is located between the sensing head () and the rack () while the sensing head () is equipped with at least one sensor (-), by means of which magnetic fields can be measured in order to determine a position.

Measuring device for determining a position between a primary part and a secondary part by magnetic flux measurements

A transmitter system for a Ferraris motion transmitter, includes a magnetic measuring arrangement including at least one magnetic field generator for generating a magnetic field and an electrically conductive measuring body, with the magnetic field generator and the measuring body movable relative to one another in operation. Coupled to the magnetic measuring arrangement is a magnetic field sensor for providing an output signal commensurate with a velocity or acceleration of the measuring body. At least one of the magnetic field generator and the magnetic field sensor includes at least two magnetic members interlocking one another in concentric relationship to the measuring body for guiding the magnetic field as a result of eddy currents forming during operation.

Transmitter system for a ferraris motion transmitter

A revolution counter; includes a base body having a sensor arrangement and a power supply device which supplies energy to the sensor arrangement, and a rotary element connectable to a revolving member and rotating relative to the base body about a rotation axis. The rotary element includes a magnet arrangement, which so interacts with the power supply device that the sensor arrangement is supplied with energy during each revolution of the rotary element in at least three rotary positions of the rotary element regardless of a rotation speed of the rotary element to thereby allow the sensor arrangement to ascertain a rotary position of the rotary element. In order to prevent a transmission of mechanical forces from the rotary element to the base body, the rotary element is positioned with respect to the base body either without connection to the base body, or held by the base body at three-dimensional play.

Revolution counter

A revolution counter includes a single sensor which scans movement of a rotary element and generates a raw signal commensurate with a rotary position of the rotary element for ascertaining one of at least three areas of angular ranges. Two of these areas include each a single continuous angular range, whereas a third area includes at least two angular ranges, which interrelate but are separated from one another. A power generation system delivers energy pulses to the sensor, when the rotary element rotates below a minimum value, so that a raw signal can be detected and the corresponding angular range area can be determined. The power generation system and the rotary element are so interconnected as to ascertain for at least part of the thus determined areas of angular ranges, by which of the angular ranges the rotary element is rotated, and to establish the number of revolutions based on the ascertained angular ranges.

Revolution counter for determining a number of revolutions of a rotary element

A rotary position of a rotary element is registered by a sensor arrangement having at least two sensors and an evaluation circuit disposed downstream thereof. In each position of the rotary element, the sensors are capable of supply raw signals by which it is possible to determine which angular range the rotary element has rotated. A power generation system outputs power pulses to the sensor arrangement sufficiently frequently so that, by using the registered angular ranges, detection of the direction of rotation of the rotary element is possible.
